Ok so have been doing a little bit of work on the car amongst stripping and ebaying bits off the donor car.
I have got a couple of Bosch 044 fuel pumps (1 main and 1 reserve) and a flash shiny bracket thingy that bolts them together along with some non return valves. I have made a bracket to mount thatto the left hand side of the fuel cell. It's not all put together yet and if you scour around the photo you will see some other stuff I am in the middle of working with.

And this should be just a photo showing the size of the swirl pot and the Dry Sump tank and puke tank....

If by 'rearward driving position' you mean the seat is a long way back in the cabin then yes it is a fair way back. The seat back is way past the B pillar....

So this photo is showing where I have mounted the two 044 pumps. I have added weight already... Their pump bracket was 4 plastic clips pop riveted to the floor with 4 zip ties attaching the pumps... so many zip ties. I had some billet off the shelf items attached to an aluminium bracket... that is riveted to the floor..



Some photos of the location of the two Holley Red lift pumps. I have made a bracket to bolt them to but as of close of proceedings here tonight I haven't figured out exactly how to mount them securely above the 044 pumps.... Trying to keep it as light as possible so all aluminium is being used. My sheetmetal skills aren't the best but it will work.....





So that's it for now..... Just sold $500 bits off the ute, bonnet guards etc.... might be able to afford to finish this project yet!!

Hi Ash

I just had a thought that your tool box might be in need of some tools so you could pension off the Claw Hammer and the 12" Shifter.

Don't show your tools people will want them.

With a claw hammer and a shifter I have a full tool box ...... Ha ha
Needed the claw hammer to straighten out the rear chassis rail.... & the shifter cause I don't have a -24 AN spanner (yet)...

I was talking with a mate whose son races in the development series the other day. He was saying that the later cars with the rearward seating position are a superior car safety wise, the cage and drivers position are a big jump forward from the factory seating position.

Ok time for a short story and some more pictures.

I have removed the rear apron and diffuser as I am getting some molds made for it so I will have a spare should I crash..... Actually Spoilertek (Peter Cricnton - Qld Cobra Club Member) is going to do the molds and give me a free copy of each part.
This photo shows the aluminium box that holds the 120 litre fuel cell.


Picture of the dry sump pump and sump attached to the engine, purely for fitment purposes.


Here is the L77 and TR6060 waiting to be lifted into the engine bay.


And here it is, sitting in there. Just working now on moving it back as far as possible and a little to the passenger side to try and counter my 90kg on the driver side. Also to move that starter motor a little further away from the steering rack.



So now I have to make the engine mounts..... starting with the gearbox mount then working forward.....

here is a bit of inspiration for you,
this is the winton festival of speed yesturday,all the cars were the genuine ones except the vb and vc. also rick kellys car from last year was there, would you believe it was only $90k to buy the whole car with everything, including two brand new sets of slick and one set of wets!
Also glen setons el and au, and dick johnsons ef and el were there to.

DHS did you notice whether those are both genuine 100S Healeys in the shot above?

Nothing better than seeing one of these on the old style skinny Dunlop racing rubber in a graceful four wheel drift at speed.

Don they where replicas of a record attempt, somthing about salt flats, but that may have been the big six, it was very fast, keeping up with the xy gt falcon, a 69 transam mustang and a very fast xu1 with over 350hp out of the old 202.
I was looking at a 1959 healey 3000, it was a toss up over the cobra, needless to say the cobra won, only because of ease of maintenance and price of parts,

Ok I have progressed a little. Trying to do things one at a time to not get too lost in the task. It sounds simple, just chuck an engine and box in it maaaattee!


This is the complete fuel system minus the wiring. Those puch fit fittings are a real pain to put on... until i found out you need lube...


Drivers side engine mount, probably a little stronger than needed... but I didn't want it to 'fall' out.


Passengers side engine mount.

Sorry the photos are a bit boring at the moment, I hope to have some dry sump plumbing photos etc up as soon as I can get the parts...

Next job is to get the tailshaft sorted, also the shifter needs to be modified so I can reach it. The seat sits a fair way back and I just cant reach it even though it is 100mm further back from the factory position...

That thought did cross my mind spook!!!... I was going to suggest a wad of $100's but then I too realized that realistically a penny found sitting under the back seat would most likely be the true value after this build!!
