Default Non Cobra question

Apologies for non-Cobra question but I know there are plenty of car savvy people here who might have experienced or know of this issue and may be able to point me in the right direction.

My sons VU V6 UTE did a wierd thing tonight.

He says "The Alt light came on and the power steering did work" he also said brakes were funny as well but I am not sure about this.

I immediately said fan belt.

He was only about a K from home and he stopped the car and re-started it and all ok now.

I thought maybe slipping belt. Oil on belt etc.

I had a look just now and no oil etc. Started car all ok now. Belt ok, Wierd.

Any ideas??

Cheers

Gregg

Default Alternator

Gregg,

Check to see if they run the same alternator as the GenIV's (140AMP) as I

had a similar issue when the alternator got wet.

I would bet it died. My daughters Jeep Cherokee did the same thing. It dies then the alternator light comes on, steering is hard, brakes won't work right. It started back up and drove it home. I had to replace the crank and can sensors.

Agreed, happened to my old VZ Adventra, stalled, left the battery terminal off for an hour to reset the ECU and then all was good until i sold it 20,000klm later.

Would be worth plugging in to the OBD to see if any codes are thrown. Local auto elec could do that for you in 5 mins.
Should cost bugger all for them to check it for you.
I have one but unfortunately am away at present otherwise we could have had a look..
