I'm about to renew my policy so am going to ring them but just wondered if this was just a special condition on your policy or something I need to ask specifically about?

Any feedback is helpful. Thanks Soul.

Why would an insurance co hand back a 50 grand wreck for free? My dealings with insurance co's is that they give you nothing for free and they employ experts to make sure they don't.

I know this is off topic but the Insurance/Statutory write-offs and re-birthing reminds me of events many years ago which members may find amusing.

As fraud investigators we became aware gangs were stealing cars and stripping them, buying them back at salvage auctions and refitting the items. What they often didn’t foresee was that the cars would be vandalised prior to recovery which added to the rebuild cost; however, to overcome this, resourceful ones started to dump the stripped cars next to Police Stations to minimise the risk of vandalism via a quick vehicle recovery!

Also, when I worked in accident investigation we wanted to purchase straight cars for pole impact test and set out to buy up straight shell LH Toranas (this was some time ago). We ended up paying enormous amounts for salvage cars and it dawned on us we were competing against bidders who had the missing parts for these straight cars. After putting two and two together we organised to identify who these bidders were and searches of their premises frequently located stashes of stolen automotive equipment.

Now back to the topic.

Just a note with insurance, mine is also under the same deal to return the wreck if its written off. I would of thought anyone with a car of reasonable or sentimental value would have a policy similar to this? They all offer it as far as iam aware. Good luck with the sale soul, but the wife says I cant have 2 cobras.

So the car is plastic and not aluminum as your first post and your profile alluded to? It's been in an accident, burned, melted, crashed and you want $50,000 AUS for it.

Can I ask a quick question, are you on some type of narcotic medication right now?

So I take it you are on medication right now. Thanks, that explains a lot

As for your final comment, I'd rather be called a tool for questioning your original post, than a fool for actually believing it as being the truth.

I noticed no response to the question as to the VIN you illegally stole from a real CSX car, or perhaps the pictures you were going to post.

One of the more interesting reads on the forum in a long time. It is a never ending train wreck. Lets see some pictures

How ignorant can some be?
My profile... I own a Kirkham too!
As far stealing a vin, I purchased the AC from the States , dickhead!
You know nothing of me, my cars or Australian values of cars...
So why post something so stupid and offensive ?
My sales ad states every needed and several photos of the car.

You really need to get a life.

Actually I know quite a bit about you from not only your posts here, but from the conversation(s) with several of your fellow Aussies.
I believe the term used by one of them was "Wank stain", whatever that means, I am sure it is not a compliment

As for Australian cars values, you would be surprised how much more I know about the specialty car market in Australia than you apparently do.

I'll leave it at that.

Have a great day.

Given I chose to post this on the Australian side of the forum,

I was hoping to communicate with people that have English as their first language so they could read all the info posted and view all photos and information on the Ad,

Rather than have some self righteous loser post stupid negative comments on something that is so simple.

Enjoy life Mr Mustang,

And learn not to be so ignorant.

Given that I own a Kirkham , I contemplated that.

Does not look too difficult?

Throw enough money at something and any thing can be accomplished!

But what do I know ?

Best,

Ok cool thanks for that. Shannon's give me 1st option on buying wreck back for an amount to be determined by them. No freebies from them.

Ill give Dawes a ring.

Thanks again.

I bought a car back from my insurance company in 99. They took off the value they believed it was worth at auction from what they paid out. I rebuilt it with my Dad and came out in front.

The ad for this car doesn't look dodgey to me. 750hp arntz has the same car sales info from the standard template. I don't think either are trying to pass the car as real and rip someone off like that other clown 12 months ago who had it stolen.

I can't believe this thread has got 4 pages of bickering. Does no body talk about building cars anymore?

Good luck with the sale.

Lumley Special Vehicles......
Their policies also have " salvage rights".....
I.e. if the car is written off...they pay out in full and you get the car back.
Shannon's used to do that...but have now decided not to.

Anyway.....

Back to the ongoing drama.....

hey wazza, was just reading the product disclosure statement on shannons, your right salavage rights deducted from payout if a total loss, but if the car is over 35 years old you get to keep the wreck at no cost.
