Default Taxi motor #2

Hi all, I thought I might get my backside into gear and post a couple of pics of the new taxi motor.

It is a 415ci cast iron gen4 with my old cam and heads.
The intake is new and the spacing of the throttle bodies was even the same as a Ford big block hence the air cleaner

Looks great bet there will be a few ponies to hold back there!

Looks the goods Gav. Nothing 'taxi' about it from where I'm sitting.
Hope to put a few pics up of my build soon, chances are we will both have had transplants come Shelbyfest next year. I wont be packing the cubic capacity of your good self, but hope to be a little closer than before.......

Keep the info coming, all the best.

Cheers

Not too sure what you mean there, looks VERY Chev to me.
I'm none too concerned with brands, it just needs to pack some muscle

Thanks guys, I will share a shed with you any day.

I have found out the hard way unfortunately that the Gen4 block differs from a Gen3 in one way so far, unfortunately it is a bolt hole in the block that the accessories all bolt to

Not a game breaker but a fair pain in the arse all the same!

Well done sir.
Looks like it will be one of the few "hold-on" engines that will suit a cobra.
I hope she servers you well for many the kilometres ahead.

Best wishes

Great work Gav. That's the kind of look I'm aiming for - old schoolish with tech underneath. Are they efi carbies and if so, did they need a new ECU?

Thanks Sambo,
They are EFI throttle bodies, they even have all the same plugs as the factory stuff (throttle position and idle air control) so the standard LS1 PCM will still be used.
The only down side is that Holley only makes the dual 4bbl manifold to suit the cathedral port heads at the minute. Hence why I have still got the LS1 heads on.
They will flow enough for now, and the low end torque should be killer!

Down in Melbourne you quite often see the Holdine Statesman used as a Taxi. I've been in a couple with the V8.

Cheers

Victoria have all sorts of cool taxis, but mostly ones where the driver doesn't speak English, doesn't believe in deodorant and doesn't know direction in Melbourne.
Towmaster and d488y2 like this.

In Alice Springs there are 2 forms of hire transport, there is the Taxi company and for a few dollars more there is "Private Hire" these are almost all V8 Statesman vehicles, although there is now a Benz (X Taxi driver won a few million $ in Lotto earlier this year, so he bought a Benz to do Private Hire work for his regular customers)
