G'day all,
Introducing myself as a new member. I have been involved in ICVs for some time and I know about the intricacies of NSW rego. I probably won't build, but buy 2nd hand as start.
I would like to know a bit more about AC Cobra replicas in Australia. Are there any events planned in the near future around the Sydney area, so I can come up for a chat and someone who could show me their vehicle?
Jack

Welcome Jack,
The next outing for the Sydney branch will be a motorkhana event at the Penrith Regatta Centre car park on Sunday the 4th of August. You can find the details in the link below.
Of course the big one is the Nationals on the October long weekend at Goulburn where you could pretty much see it all. It's well worth a visit if you want to compare makes.
cheers
Paul

Thanks for the notes. I noticed many good Cobra's are interstate, requiring engineers certification when bringing into NSW. Has anyone done this?
Some replicas seem to have a compliance plate however, so they are exempt? eg:

Hi Jack,
From what I've seen very few cobras have compliance plates, probably only some Robnells and the Coke Snakepit/DRB's. As for the interstate cars the best bloke to talk to about NSW compliance issues would be Treeve, he'll steer you in the right direction.
You'll recognise me, while I'm not as ugly as Tengu I hope to have an awesome looking woman in the passenger seat. Before any of you lecherous crowd get any ideas she's my daughter and will be having her first cobra drive.
Hi Tengu there should be a few of us heading down to Penrith from the coast, we should meet up. I usually follow Pete down as he is on first name terms with the F3 HP.
Cheers
Paul

I'm from Bathurst and have been a cobra owner for a few years now. Never been to any cobra events and noticed the post about the motorkhana event at the Penrith Regatta Centre car park on Sunday the 4th of August. What does the event involve?
It'll be just a short roll down the hill for you, actually on our last outing I had to get carried down the hill from Bathurst to Emu Plains so I could get a tyre and tube due to a leaking rim.
The Penrith event is jointly run by Driving Solutions and the club. Driving Solutions supply the equipment, instructors and insurance I believe. The day consists of socialising of course and negotiating various course layouts in one of the car parks. It's an enjoyable day out though it can be frustrating.
Here's a clip; Not me that'd be way too embarrassing..

Great to hear you're coming Mike, will give you a ring next week after I speak with Pete. It'll be a fairly early brisk start, probably best to meet here a bit after 6 then we'll meet Pete and the others? up on the F3 at 6:30am. I did message Adam but haven't heard back.
cheers

Apparently the Penrith Regatta Centre Motorkhana needs a few more entries for the club to break even on the costs of running this event. So the club will be accepting entries on the Sunday morning of the event for those that don't trust weather forecasters. The Weather forecast is looking excellent.
It's on this Sunday August the 4th 8:30am come and enjoy a fun day out and support the club. The details and entry form are on the Cobra Car Club of NSW web site.
cheers
