I would assume there is a lot more to it.
Think it may be a time issue, looked like a slow clunky process.
Surveys are only a way to gather information and depends on how the question was asked, if the question was do you prefer the standing start or the possibilities of 2 more sprint sessions then that may give a different result.
I am disappointed to see it go as I thought it was a great new event that really focused on driver ability and perhaps created a more strategic approach by the entrants.
Has anyone asked the organizers for the reason?
Phil

No big deal Gav...I think most liked the newer format. Change is as good as a holiday.
It is what it is..... Certainly I think everyone enjoyed the new format so its not unrealistic to ask why it's changed back.
As Phil suggest....as this forum medium is part of the nationals promotion tool perhaps Kimbo can highlight the rationale behind the change?

I don't mind either way Spook.
I enjoyed both formats, the new format is certainly easier to decide who is a faster car and so who goes first out on a session.

I wonder if there would be any chance of the organisers organising a 'just for fun' race for those that would be interested? Obviously not this year but maybe something for future thought. Open to all cars, 5 laps, rolling start, not connected to King Cobra points etc. Maybe held at the end of the day as a bit of a feature? Or is our meeting not eligible?
Just a thought?

The older format is actually better for me as I'm more a chance of a one lap wonder than showing any true driver skill. Ive won just keeping it facing forward and smiling...and my car isn't really designed for standing starts.
I do like seeing the Nats evolve in a positive way and I thought this was a healthy step in that process.
Can't wait either way.
Towy, great idea.... Cobras and gt40s only? Lol

Since the survey was done, we have had the NSW Championships that used the same standing start format as last Year's Nationals.
After the Championships we started to get some "noise" from members that although people didn't mind the standing start, they would prefer to go back to the single lap format.
It was discussed in a couple of our club meetings and in the end, the members voted by (a large) majority to change back. We then had a vote at committee level and it was also voted to revert back to the single flying lap format.
I think we also need to be a bit careful with the results of the survey as people change their minds over time. Also, some of the people that answered the format question were spectators, not competitors.
Personally I think there are good points for both formats but I don’t believe that changing from one format to another will change the end result. Fast guys are fast, slow guys are slow, the only thing that changes is the margin.
I like the "just for fun" idea though.

Below is the reminder email about to go out to the NSW members:
Well we are making good progress with entries for this year’s 20th Nationals…YES 20 years we have be doing this…..BUT we would still like more to join in the fun and of this event, so PLEASE get your entries in ASAP.
Remember there is lots happening this year.
A new Class 1 – for the more traditional Cobra, 15inch wheels, drive it to the track.
The more traditional Show and Shine – judged by your peers – those who understand Cobras.
And more of the latest additions
Sponsors Lap – once lap top get it all right
Over 60’s – will it be Johnny Collett again ??
Back to the “Flying lap” start – NOT The standing start…so all you need is ONE lap and you could take home a trophy
And of course all the laughs and camaraderie at the dinners, who will Warren pick on this year…will it be YOU?
So come on everyone, get those entries in and be part of our 20th Anniversary Nationals celebrations
Regards
Mark Hudson

It changes as you get closer every year but right now it looks reasonably $HITHOU$E.

Ha Ha Ha, its not a bulldozer Ash.
Took it for a squirt on Tuesday, makes all the right noises (mostly a howling noise from the back).
Cruising is at about 5% throttle with the new dual quad intake and the equivalent to WOT with the old intake is maybe 40% with the new setup.
There's a bit of calibration to do yet!

That's a bit of a bugger tenrocca.... I think there's a few crew who have car issues and can't make it.
When I posted that link it was 3 days heavy rain fri-sun but as you mentioned its looking better now.
Fingers crossed it stays on the improving path.

Andy needs a special on spare time
Went for a drive yesterday and sorted out a few issues.
I have pretty much got everything done in readiness for the Nationals now, including fixing a slow 2-3 shifting issue with the trans that has eluded me for about 2 years, it even got a wash!
