RickOZ,

There's no rush... Cobras are timeless and will be around a while yet.

As for budget... As long as the passion is there, you'll find a way, whether that be now, sooner, or later... only you will know.
I'm hoping for your sake it's sooner.

In the meantime don't be a stranger, feel free to hang around here and cause trouble. I did for some time before I bought my cobra.
Some say I'm still causing trouble, but the point is you'll find the guys around here are all round good blokes, great fun, pretty easy going, and a wealth of knowledge. Except this one guy "Dimis" he's a pain... Stay clear of him.

Best of luck with your cobra hunt. It's part of the fun and a right of passage to ownership IMHO.

Take care,

----

Where the hell have you been man?
Nearing 8 years membership a beautiful looking beast pictured in your gallery and ONLY 30 odd post of golden wisdom.
Didn't they teach you how to share?
I want to see more of your G-Force.
It looks brilliant!

Yep Don is 6'5", sitting on a full height spring seat and is sitting too low in the car.

Our PACE 427 has a flat floor design, nothing is lower than the floor, not underbody exhaust, engine sump etc. Pedals are floor mounted and thus quite low giving the driver a natural rake downwards with legs which also gets legs away from bottom edge of dash, steering wheel etc.

As the subject of the unflattering shots above ( I guess I should face up to it -- I don't have a "best" side ) I'd like to add a few comments about this last shot where I'm looking down into the footwell area.

In this picture, Craig had mounted the seat so that I was sitting at the height I would be when the car is finished. I was holding my feet in the approximate position where they would be on the clutch and brake pedals "at rest", that is the highest, or closest, point to my body. Even at this extreme position, my knees came nowhere close to either the underside of the dash or the steering wheel.

Under normal driving conditions, with my right foot on the throttle and my left foot down by the side of the clutch pedal, the seating/driving position would be even more relaxed. With my LHD Arntz, an older brand with a good reputation for foot room, I still bump my right knee against the dash occasionally going from throttle to brake. I won't know for sure until I get to drive Brad's car --hint hint !!!-- but I'm as confident as I can be that based on what I've seen, this problem simply would not occur for me in a Pace car.

I would not buy a stretched Ac cobra (100mm extra in the doors) as they do not look right!
I seen in one in Victoria and they look weird.

I am a tradtionalist and that why I chose a RMC as being period correct.

At 6'5" Little John found he fitted comfortably in the Absolute Pace 427 - Pace Cobra 427.

There is an additional few changes that Craig has made to the Kirkhams that would work on the Pace 427 for even more room...

Without doubt - value for money, quality etc it pays to buy the Pace 427 as the extra dollars required to finish is minimal as Craig supplies everything in the kit.

I know he will have tons of bits and a Pace 427 Cobra car at Goulburns Wakefield Park raceway next weekend for the Cobra nationals - would be an ideal opportunity to drop in and talk with Craig and the gang there.

..they will be easily recognisable as the 35c temps on the way down will see some great tans... I am looking forward to the flight up into the sunshine and the drive back with them..
