Default Work Ute

I picked up a 2004 BA XR8 ute last week. It has a 260 Boss Engine with a 5 Speed manual. It's a little rough around the edges but it does have racing stripes and a roll bar!

this was my old BA ute from a few years ago with a fresh proper twin system
sound quality does not do it justice.

Here's mine. It's the last of the AU utes with a factory stroked Windsor motor.

Man I so miss my work ute. With our family increasing from 2 to 3 it was time I had to change so I put the ute on carsales thinking it'd take a few months to sell. Sold it in 3 days!

Gone..... :-(

Its now been replaced by a V8 X5 so it still goes OK and I can watch TV now. And it is uber comfy. :-)

With the 2 door ute theme running out of favour the ole F250 gasser had to go to. Even more surprisingly it sold within an hour of the carsales add going live.

So I decided as I love my utes....that I'd replace it with this. 7.3ltr V8 Turbo Diesel Dually Power.

The Beemer doesn't deserve a pic in the presence of such beauty!

Must have been hard letting go of the FPV?
Got to say the F350 is very cool.

Spook, the new truck looks like a champ.
If you're selling cars that quickly, you must be giving them away. If you have a dirty old ford small block you want to offload for a similar giveaway rate, let me know

Still kicking myself for getting rid of this XR8, one of the best cars I have had.

Congrats on the sales. Welcome to the X5 club. I still think a pic and details are warranted!

Sadly my XR8 Pursuit 250 ute is now on the market. Too many toys so it's time to downsize a bit. I just picked up another Land Rover discovery as a 2nd family car and tow vehicle. My wife was never very keen on driving the ute so not a great 2nd car for us.

Cheers

Yep I love the new truck. Its a genuine 1 owner with only 51000k. Best of the f350s with forged internals. Has the large banks turbo too.

Both cars sold quick to guys who we're looking for the exact vehicles for ages and had been diss appointed with what they'd seen up to mine. Never got another call on either so perhaps the word is fortuitous? Whatever it was I have kept in touch with both and they're really pleased so that's good news.

The f250 was a great truck but I like my new one better. The Fpv ute had heaps of go and was great for tools and Tyres in the back but it was a firm rigid ride and too low for a daily driver really.

Horses for courses I guess. Now I'll go pull that ole 302 out for ya Craig.

Towy it's true, but Garry H convinced me its worth giving it a go. I've been reading a lot up on these trucks and in the USA its all about dezels. Petrols or gassers are pretty much a dirty word over there it seems.

I can't see this one struggling up the dipper.

If the house sells its first big trip will be Shelbyfest next year.....but I've been waiting 4 years for that to happen so I'm not banking my life savings on being there. But if I do happen to sell I'm going down for sure.

Just had the new trucks re-engineered. Had its GVM re-rated from a GVM of 5080kg to 4400kg. I did it for 3 reasons.

1. Now you can drive it with a car license.
2. Rego reduces from $2000 a year to $1100 due to the triple cost in CTP insurance.
3. No longer requires yearly inspections.

And you could add that perhaps in the long run it "may" add or maintain value on resale as it opens up the market and reduces yearly costs. In the end I still have significant payload and it doesn't affect towing specs.

What was most interesting was with the derating it required no physical changes. The only change made was the addition of a mod plate. BUT..... the extensive paper work required and detailed inspection process was pretty crazy. Seat measurements, anchor points bla bla. I even had to do a brake test. The truck, which ways a lean 3100kg pulled a 0.9g brake stop at 60kph to dead stop with minimal ABS interference. That's pretty good for a bloody big truck.

Qld transport has engineers really jumping through hoops these days it seems.

Truck gets a workout over Christmas. Pulling a large horse float with 3 horses up to Bundy... Should walk it in....We'll see how it goes.

Spookypt

That's bizarre that you didn't make any physical changes!
