Another Cobra heading North
After what has seemed a eternity, another cobra is heading north to Cairns.Have finally purchased a 2000 Drb, 302 with mild cam, coated headers, five speed. It was a no brainer to jump at.Thanks Craig for putting me on to it! It isthe blue cobra that was at the club breakfast this month. Decided to use Ceva to transportitto Townsville, and will drive it the last 400km. Chook, I know what you mean when you said you were excited for your cobra to arrive. I am excited and it hasn t even left Brissie yet.

Congrats on the new toy, got some brag pics to share with everyone.
Just in time for summer and a unexpected sunburnt head as a drive to the shop to get milk now takes 3 hours.

Ian, Congrats on the purchase. The drive up from Townsville should be a good one when the weather improves. Call me when it arrive and I will organise an outing. We have enough Cobra's in Cairns now to have our own Cobra Breakfast . Remember to call Shannons or Lumley Special Vehicles to arrange cover.
Boxhead, plan your next visit to Cairns around June, bring a stop watch and join the Aust Classic Rally.

Okay......Back online. Bloody underground cables and rain don't mix.
Car should be getting picked up Mon 25th and be in Townsville on the 29th if all goes well, but is only a suggested arrival. But LT I still have your no and will contac you and maybe catch up in Townsville. Chook...its not the one with hoosier tyres. I didnt get to see that one. I will put photos of the cob88 in this post. The car was from up the sunshine coast and only 4000 km on it. So was a good buy for $39k.......couldn't say no.

We'll done mate it is very very nice and a steal at that price. I have the same air filter and rocker covers too. Neat interior and doesn't have too much to do to it? Wheels are old school.
Enjoy!

You have a bigger motor though
Have a minor issues with wiring but should be easy to sort out. Just when cut off switch is on it drains the battery. Will check connections and switch itself.

Got a good soft top also. Put it on before I left for the trip. Even though the trip will be in covered transport any thing helps. Top hadnt been on for a while so was tight to put on but should settle into shape okay. All the framework is s/s so should last well, but hopefully wont be on car too much

Bigger is not always better!
Like yourself I've had a lot of little things tweaked and fixed up. My dash is horrible and needs to be replaced and re-wired. Like they say it's a project that will never be finished!
I've just had my soft top on too with all the hideous weather and like you say to stretch it back into shape. Make sure you drive with it on too becaus that helps stretch it with the movement of the car.

I have already contacted Shannons and got a quote......still waiting for Lumley Special vehicle to get back to me. Will be interesting to compare the two. Have good things about both. Hope the weather fines up next week or so?

Ask Shannons about their limited use policy.
It will save you a heap of dough on the premium if you're not doing big K's.

okay update time........Got insurance quotes from both Shannons and Lumley. Shannpns was $436.70 and Lumley $646.09. Took Shannons (limited use) quote and car will be insured from 4 Dec, before it arrives in Townsville. Delivery date has been pushed back till 4th Dec so will pick it up on the Fri 6th Dec, all going well. Both quotes being posted so will be interesting to compare if the cover varies and I took accepted right one.........Now back to waiting!

Make sure you are comparing "apples with apples"
i.e.
Shannons does not give SALVAGE RIGHTS on any written off vehicle.
and Lumley Special Vehicles DOES....
Makes a BIG difference in the case that you have a nasty prang.
also,
You can also get a "limited use" quote from Lumleys.
Cheers,
Warren
