Richard when I look at that last shot why do I think "Aerial Atom"?
Seriously, it's coming along very well, but I wonder how many other APs are being built next to the wood pile? Very rustic!

Thanks very much Craig, for taking the time to post these pics for me. I had tried to do this and failed, so I gave up.
The build is going fast now and it's only a few weeks before the car goes off to be wired and trimmed. when she comes back, she should be running and I can drive up and down the driveway at least!
Will keep everyone posted with progress as I go.

No worries Richard. I like how you came up with a neat solution for the GM fly by wire pedal. Is the sweep from 0-100% throttle position linear, or does the last last 30 or 40% of travel come on more quickly and with less pedal travel?

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the pics. It really helps us other Pace builders along!
Was curious as to why you mounted the fly-by-wire throttle module on the side of the chassis when the build manual shows it to be mounted to the top? Also, I see that your bell crank is in a different position too. Was that to suit the modified mount position of the FBW module?
Was it easier to install your way? Does it make any difference to the throttle actuation?

I can answer that Simon. The fly by wire throttles differ depending on the model. The later VE and VF I think all have the mounts oriented such that you need to side mount them. I think earlier ones (such as referenced in the build manual) could be mounted on the top. Otherwise you could make a right angle bracket to mount them on top. Either way, the orientation of the fly-by-wire pedal is the same to the bell crank setup. It "presses" to towards the right, outside wall of the foot box.

Hi All,
I've been building for about 19 months now, but to be fair, I had to take 5 months off to recover from shoulder surgery. It was slow at the beginning, but has been much faster since November and I should be finished my bits very soon. Trimming and electrics will probably take 12 weeks in total.
With the fly by wire, Guy is on the money. Mine needed to bolt to the side wall of the footbox,which I did while I had the body off. I also shortened and trimmed the original pedal, which was all plastic, reinforced it with fibreglass and bolted two metal supports on to it, because I wanted the connecting arm from the bellcrank to be fixed to metal rather than just plastic, which i felt would have worn with time.
The position of the bell crank in the manual didn't work for me. For some reason it positioned the bell crank too close to the top, meaning it couldn't pivot correctly. I played with the position until I found a spot that worked, so it is similar to the one in the manual but not the same.
I won't know how well it is set up until I can fire up the engine, but the pedal range and the connecting arms are all adjustable, so I should be able to "tune" it. As far as I can tell, it is a linear sweep, but I'll find out for sure when I start her up,
I will let you know how I go.

Looking more like a "real" can now and it's only a couple of weeks till she goes off to get the wiring and trimming all done.

I want to fit a heated seat kit to the car. Has anyone fitted these to theirs? Can anyone recommend a heated seat kit?

I bought set off ebay altho i havent fitted them yet i conected them to a car battery and they got really warm i will try and find the link for you they were only about 80 bucks from if i recall correctly

At last she is registered and on the road (thje second one in NSW??). It has been a long journey, but well worth it when the RTA (RMS) give me the rego papers and licence plates on Wednesday - just three days before the Nats! So I'll be driving her down on Saturday and may see some of you there.
I have to say that I am delighted with the car and my sincere thanks have to go to Neil Streeting for his unending advice, support and work on the car in the latter. Also to Peter who did all the custom wiring for me, and a huge thank you to Glenn, Jason and Rick at Exclusive Customs who have done a truly amazing job with the paint.
Okay, so I am biased, but she does look good!
