Why don't you name the pre-lube system you're going with, seems that's the first thing anyone will want to know before signing up.

Interesting, how many people use this kind of system.

Before you buy you might want to look at two other alternatives. The first is the tried and proven accusump system that you can get from Canton, Moroso or Peterson Fluid Systems and the other is this really nice remote filter with a built in pressure pump you can spin with an electric drill or a speed handle. It is also made by Peterson Fluid Systems, click here => Remote w/Primer.
This is what the gizmo looks like
Of course you could also just put in some Pro-Long and not worry about these sorts of things.

I guess I am failing to see the need for a pre-lube system. I have instant oil pressure when I fire my motor. I run a 5 stage weaver brothers pump that is mounted below the oil level in my tank. The pump stays primed all the time and again, oil pressure is instantaneous.
Am I missing something?

The only thing I can think of that you might be missing is that dry sump systems and wet sump systems behave differently. Additionally most of the guys don't have a dry sump system like you do, they have a wet sump system that well, behaves differently ...
Of course there are a lot of pre-oilers that appear on dry sump systems also which sort of begs the question why - go figure.

Absolute zero need for a pre-lube system. I suggest spending the money on driving lessons, tires, wheels, sex, alcohol, Doors music, Jim Beam.
I have had my oil pans off more than any normal human should, even a month after not starting the engine there was oil dripping in my hair, bearings full of oil.
In fact if you use Brad Penn you will never ever get the oil out of the engine it is the stickiest **** on the planet.

I cant see the need for one on either type of oiling. I am all for priming an oiling system on initial start up of a new build but even I wonder just what good your doing. You applied assembly lube to all your bearings and moving parts when you put it together. Then (if your like most guys that want 100psi of oil pressure) you prime the system and flush it all out..lol. Dont get me wrong, I just built a little motor and I used assembly lube and primed it. Something about not priming just seems wrong.
It still begs the question...are you really preventing anything by priming? Should you not use assembly lube if your going to prime? Should you prime and roatate by hand to insure full coverage of moving parts?
Just thinking outloud.

Well this post has thrown up some interesting points.
From my perspective, at least, I'm getting more than just pre-lube-I'm also having the advantage of an oil accumulator to help when dropping oil pressure during speed events etc.
I know and understand all...well most of the arguments but coming from a family of aeronautical engineers & old skool ones at that you just can't beat wearing elastic waisted trousers with a belt AND braces. If you catch my drift ![laughing](http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing.gif)

Well, have you considered this? If your pickup is properly located I figure elastic waste band + belt + suspenders in one small package. Will do pre-lube, keep oil flowing during lateral g's and help keep things cool in traffic jams.

Dam Rob! I was up in Warner's Bay all week for work! We could have met up for a drink at WBH for a snitty!
I'll be up again next month. Maybe then!
