With the risk of binding if something is stored in the boot area?

Don't get me wrong, I love to see it, but just wonder of the legalities or practicalities?

There is some sort of plastic cover that isolates the suspension from the boot area. It keeps the dust out too.

Glen,
You're right... there is a seal to stop dust/water from entering the boot area...

But I think the following will answer Box's question.

I think this is a pretty cool feature as well.

The finished boot area will have a panel that sits flat against the floor, but when you have a boot full of gear...this panel covers the suspension.

It swings up and is held in place with magnets.

Here's a quote from the Owner's manual:

The centre piece is designed to pivot at the front edge upwards and magnetically fasten to the zinc plated steel brackets fastened to the boot hinge mounting for the curved round tube.
The magnets are fastened into the centre panel.

and a couple of pics to show what we mean.

Cheers ( Happy New Year )

Also...
I thought the picture might bring up another question,
so just to finish off ...

Those two panels on the floor ( closest to the camera) at the very rear of the boot area, are removeable and open to reveal a large full width under floor storage compartment.

This is created by having the fuel tank sit as far forward as possible, and away from any potential impact area.

Again...Pretty cool I recon.

Cheers,
Wazza

Guye here's a tip for you. Go to Bunnings and get some of the foil type tape they have. Looks the same as your insulation. I use a similar insulation on my 40 and use the foil tape to seal the edges off. Stops them fraying and finishes up the edge nicely. The tape is about 65mm wide so folds over both sides.

This is what I used on the interior to seal the Dynamat-type insulation up. Is that what you were thinking of?

This whati use. You can buy it from Bunnings. Put it on the edge and fold it over on all of your insulation jobs, looks trick.

Arrgghh! Another sleepless night Leroy! I've also noticed the clamps are different brands so I went and bought a new complete set that match. Plus the hoses have differing textures. And the sealant isn't black to match. I'm going to on this till next year now!

Thanks Dave, I stuffed up the bonnet insulation a little bit yesterday (bl00dy contact adhesive is a b1tch!). I was thinking how I was going to tidy that up, so your suggestion solves two probs for me - edges and stuff up cover! Thanks!

What Wazza said, Dave. Thanks Wazza.

Plus I also added those luggage anchors and bought a nice set of colour matching straps that I'll use the restrict movement in the boot. I hate things rolling around in my car anyway...

I'm not sure I would use steel zip ties around a hose. Over time with vibration etc, it will wear through. I have seen a breather hose lying on top of a ali rocker cover wear through the cover. A bit of oil on the hose with dust turns it into grinding paste. An easy way to isolate 2 hoses is use a small vacuum hose, run the zip tie through the vacuum hose around the hose your supporting back through the vacuum hose and around the other hose that your supporting.

Nice Jaydee. That worried me a little. The ties are only loose so I don't expect any abrasion.

However now I need to find some exact matching texture black vacuum hose to complete the work! Sigh.

Another update and more pics.

This was just a bit of an at shot really. I was showing the scoop and bolt pattern, and only noticed the wheel reflection later!

Installed the dash, windscreen, squirters, demisters. Interior is looking pretty smart I reckon.

These are the specially modified euro cats to fit my setup.

The exhaust installed. 2-1/2" 304 stainless. I've used permatex copper for gaskets for now. I'm getting stainless gaskets made to match the custom flanges, but that might be a few weeks off.

The Pace427 accommodates undercar exhaust via a channel under the door sills. This is looking forward from the passenger rear. I've got this exhaust sitting low in the space, because at 2.5" it would fill the space a bit tightly and the level it is now is still about 10mm above the underside anyway. I think this will help reduce the heat into the cabin. Plus the cavity is lined with aluminised fibre cloth. And there is another air pocket. Then the cabin is lined with Dynamat. And carpet. Show be ok!

The mufflers fill the rear space. Now you see why I went overboard with the heat shielding. Can't hurt.

Rear wheel arches filled with another strip of aluminium to the body.

And finally lined with closed cell foam mat to reduce road noise and stone dents inside.

mate, DaveW, d488y2 and 2 others like this.

Nice one with the wheel reflection Guy!
The exhaust is looking good too. They (AP) thought of everything at the design stage with the chassis, and allowing for an integrated under-car exhaust is just another example.

Cheers,
Glen

That is a very nice exhaust - will be great to hear it. (soon) :-)

cheers

So impressive Guye, the work on the exhaust is first class too.
