Guy I love your description of the arrival of your beautiful AP.

So much excitement and enthusiasm -- and even a special homecoming pie!

You remind me of a top fueller that blows its hat at launch and incredibly has enough momentum to coast to the distant finish line and still record a nine second time. Even if your enthusiasm levels drop to somewhere below par along your build ..... (aagh I don't want to say "journey")... but you know what I mean, yes, even if you slow down a bit, I can see this build giving more satisfaction than probably most.

Congratulations! And Merry Christmas.

If there's already a hole cut in the bodywork for the right rear tail lights, this almost looks like too much satisfaction...

Lol! Stop it Craig - she's a virgin! Really!

Thanks Don, I think you're spot on, although I hope my enthusiasm goes the distance.

Wazza, stop picking on the little man. I'm surprised you didn't comment on the hand-forklift too - that actually surprised me as Last time I was at my brothers warehouse he had a proper forklift. I actually had to hang off the back of this with another bloke when we first lifted it off the truck! This lift was only possible after I removed the contents from the car!

Dean, Gregg, Russell, Albany - thanks. No more sleeping in for me now, got to get up and get out to that shed!

Oh, and my wife was at work Friday so it was all packed away when she got home. She says "omg, look at all those boxes! That's so much stuff! Make sure none of that comes into the house or anywhere else!"

I say "well you think that's a lot of boxes, check out the garden shed. And you're going to love the petrol tank under the clothes line!"

She didn't believe me....

That body looks so good, can you tell me what options you selected when ordering to get this result? I got to find the time to order one these next year....

I'm sure Wazza will task the tedium and effort out of the ordering process for you, so you won't need much time at all

My kit is the Street Special (I think that's what it's called) with the carbon/Kevlar body, with the starter, roller and finishing kit package. Apart from a few accessories I added (passenger mirror, passenger seat sliders, and few other add ons) what you see is pretty well what you get.

The colour is unique still (I think). Nobody else has taken the Indigo Blue option yet. Now I've seen it in the flesh, and held up lots of polished silver things next it it, it looks even better.

But you wouldn't like ithe colour, nor would anyone else. Guess I'll have to have a unique Pace427 for ever

Simon.....maaaaate.....

It isn't too disturbing that there's a guy...(sorry guy)....a bloke....who likes to get jiggy with cars...

It's that you googled this ...and found it....THAT is a worry !

Although.....I might have a new "Option" on the check list for the Pace427s from now on.

Which reminds me of the time when I was polishing my first Cobra...beautiful... black ...you know the drill...and my son was watching me...and said what a neat shape the rear of the car had....and I said that I agree...and that it was like a womans arse.....his eyes dropped..he shook his head, and he left the garage silently....and didn't speak of it again.

Another bonding "Father and Son"..."Parent of the year" moment ...heh heh

No need to worry Wazza. I'm a wholesome bloke! I recall the story about this errr 'topic' because it was on a show called 'My Strange Addiction' on Foxtel. It wasn't difficult to type it into Google and find the story.

You should be more worried about Craig for suggesting it in the first place!

Default Build update

Back to work tomorrow. So here's an update on what I've done over my break.

Removed the body and rigged a frame to store it.

Assembled pedal box and cut the access hole for the master cylinders.

Installed all the aluminised heat cloth in the engine bay.

And received my tyres. Noice!

Default Your Build

Hi Guye

Nice job of the installing the insulation .

Next is the pedal box and the support.

Love the wheels but they won't over my rotors that's why I didn't steal them haha.

Keep up this quality of work and you will have a beautiful Cobra.

Cheers

Picked up the donk today. Engine, gearbox, diff, exhaust, headers, cats, ecu, loom, maf. Good haul.

Out of a 2014 SS Redline Commodonor. Only 16,000kms. Almost new!

LS2 (LS77 to be exact), TR6060 M10, 3.45 LSD.

Now for the first time since starting this project I'm a bit nervous. There's sh1rt loads of cables and pipes coming out of that thing!

Given you typically don't have AirCond, Power Steering, Heater etc - you remove most of it.

Great deal Guy- at 16,000K's they've just run it in for you :-)

Cheers Gregg

I have the l98 engine and I removed the power steering and bought a billet idler set up it comes with the required belt as well . the bad thing with these is the standard engine loom makes it impossible to remove the ecu from the engine bay . I am getting my engine and trans loom remade so the ecu and bcm sits behind the dash and not in the engine bay so it should look nice and neat and out of the way ,
that's a nice score for a low k engine mine has just 80,000k I gave it a compression and leakdown test and alls mine , I got too drive mine as I bought the whole car and took it for a spin around the block one night . it went pretty hard in a ve commy so it should fly in a cobra .

Hey deano, can I ask where you bought the idler from and $$. I also have an L98 and need to do the same to replace the power steering. Also, I believe that the VF commodore has the electronic power steering, therefore uses an idler pulley in place of the power steering pump (just like Guye has in his photos). So i'm thinking another option is a wrecker who has a VF (probably unlikely).

Cheers

Sam
