Hi Greg,
We have a system known as LVVTA ( low volume vehicle testing authority ) which covers all self build stuff like Cobras GT40 along with Hot Rods, engine swaps etc, fairly straight forward and I have a mate who put a FF 34 coupe thru the process, only issue with that was lack of welding certification for the kit supplied wishbones etc, the certification process is run in conjunction with the Hot Rod association in NZ with certifying engineers throughout the country.
I doubt you will be allowed to get it certed as LHD so should look into swapping sides ( rack / column / and pedal box swap ).
Sounds like Cobra Kiwi can give you a contact in the Hamilton area & might be able to line you up with a suitable engineer ahead of time and you could discuss this before car leaves Canada. Our equivalent of the DMV can be pretty savvy and pedantic lot if you try to bend the rules so take care, no chance of getting it thru as a genuine 65 Cobra Im afraid!
