Not really...nothing to do with how many are in each class...points aren't awarded according to the first second and third placing in each class.
It works on the overall best time for each event....a mixture of all classes.( excluding RACE class of course)
eg. SPRINTS: 100 points to the fastest sprint...99 to the second fastest, and so on...doesn't matter which class they're in,as long as they're eligible for "King Cobra"
Same for each event...then total up all of the events...and whoever has the most points overall...is the "King"
Cheers,
Warren

Yes thats the current system Waz (which works), I was pointing out a problem with Daves proposal.
On another note, Im up and running again. Clutch feels best it ever has (its never been right till now) and I even gave the carpets a vacuum. Good for an extra 0.1 a lap I reckon.
Cheers

Wow. 0.1 for carpets!?!

Consistency over outright speed is what I was trying to convey Ash, with a form of handicap for parity to give the under dog a shot. But I guess parity is why V8 Supercars has lost flavour with a lot of guys.
I had forgotten about Sneaky's 4 litre effort.
Waz, "who ever has the most points overall is King" - true, I was just looking at an alternate method of accumulating points as the measure, but I guess racing is about speed and that is the most clear cut measure.

Reminder nats entry closes today
This reminder on e-mail from Kim on the Nats committee:
Hi Guys,
well here we are, if you want to enter the 21st Cobra Nationals, the time is now, entries close TODAY. We are still very keen to get as many entries as possible so come on - ENTER...
Also, don't forget, we have our Nationals Merchandise on sale - see flyer attached (on Cobra Car Club NSW site as with entry forms and sup regs)
Also also, we are still looking for volunteers to help with the event - if you are able to help out, email Tasman McManis (tasman.mcmanis(at)hotmail.com) and advise the days and times you are able to help.
Many Thanks,
Kim Down

Bugga ... I should have been more clear.
What I mean is two drivers sharing the one car but competing in two different classes. ie. not competing against each other in the same class just sharing the driving duties in different classes.
The only change to the set up of the car to comply with the regs would be a change of wheels/tyres.
Given two registration fees for the different drivers would be paid I can't see the problem.....or am I barking up the wrong tree?

The regularity thing is run at Shelbyfest each year.
Those with a fair amount of seat time in their car usually are hard to beat when it comes to regularity.
And those who have a whole grain brekky are pretty regular too.

Les, I can’t see anything contrary in the supplementary regs.
Currently two entrants can use the same car in the same class, but I see where you’re going.
Class 1 is unlimited engine size but 15” road or “R” tyres, and class 2 & 3 is any road or “R” tyre but set engine sizes. So with or without a tyre change, the same car could be eligible to enter either 1&2 or 1&3, depending on engine size. Appears to be nothing preventing 15" tyres in class 2 or 3.
Each car is scrutinised for compliance to class, and some rotate tyres during the course of the weekend, but whether the officials would be happy with a tyre size change between events to comply with class requirements, not sure. There would be time on sprint day between events, but on Saturday there are 3 events run concurrently and you get three goes at each. Time would be tight to get all 3 goes each.

I am pretty sure the regs state that only one set of wheels/tyres are permitted.
This is to help ensure there are not unnecessary delays with the different events on the Saturday with people wanting to fit drag radials and then swapping to circuit tyres for the hill climb.

Vehicle Requirement 17.i Tyres of the same specification and size as presented at the vehicle check, must be used in all events. If circumstances create the need to change any tyre it will come under the control of the Clerk of Course.
Open to interpretation I feel, if the car was entered as two separate entities and presented to scrutineering twice, each time in the appropriate guise, who knows?
A call for the Clerk? A definite time waster though.
Jeez Les, look what you've opened up.

David, thanks for the on topic intelligent response.
I don't see it as a huge issue. Especially when there is discussion regarding the lack of entries (cars).
If they( the organisers) allow a single car to have two drivers and each driver pays a nomination fee and competes in a different event simply by changing wheels/tyres (ie does not hold up proceedings) then it would increase the monetary receipts for the event.
I recall the Victoria Club allowing for wives to drive the same car as the husband at the Shelby Fests.
My posted question is really only a variation of the above concept.

I would think changing tyres with drivers wouldn't work.
I have watched dual entered cars struggle with just two drivers changing.
During the 1 lap dash you would have to be changing tyres in 'parc ferme' which wouldn't happen.
I would think that you would have two drivers in the one class unless the other driver is of the female persuasion

I agree Gav. So when you front up at the Nats this year Les - only one entry for you!

Les, its more so probably just hard for the organisers to keep track of who's who in the zoo. The what, where, whens. The event volunteers do a great job in often trying conditions so simplicity is key in helping them to some degree.
With that in mind a dual entered car in the same class would mean that both drivers can compete apples v apples against each other as well as the others in that class and overall which is a bit of added healthy competition. They could even swap who goes out first in alternating events so each shares the cold car cold tyres scenario.
With events closing today a BIG THUMBS up again to the organisers MarkH Phil, Neil and the rest of The NSW Nats Committee. Looking forward to a friendly safe dry fun couple of days...with a plastic trophy thrown in for the lucky few.

Sorry Les I missed your last post. Getting all three events completed for each entrant in a single class shared car is already a big ask, throwing a tyre change in would really stretch it. Might as well stay with the single class double entry. A double entry is still paid.
But I like the idea of a single driver double entry, far more track time but you would benefit greatly from a pit crew.
