Here we go again.......
Mate,
Think about it.....
If the car is crap....no one is going to bag it publicly on the forum.
So you might get comments about the car from mates of the owner ....who will tell you it's a great car ????!!
Neither is much help.
The car looks pretty good to me, and for about half what I spent building one.
Check it out and it you have the whip, and like the car....buy the flipping thing.
Cheers

It's a square tube CR like Mine, Gav, Mizzi, Phil N and a bunch of others on here. They have a proven track record. You probably cant go far wrong with that one.
Cheers

Does the 59 in 'Deano59' represent how many cars you need to look at before you buy one?
You are nearly there....

You wanted a Ford motor; this has a Chev.
You preferred an auto; this has a manual.
You preferred an SA car; this is in NSW.
You were looking at spending in the $50s to low $60s; this is $76K.
I'd say it's the perfect car for you.

Since it appears that your budget has opened up some. Book a $99- flight and go and take a look. Then hire a car and go and have a look at the gold RMC from last fortnight.
Assess the $16k difference (as this would buy you a lot of replacement gear knobs) and put in some leg work which never really hurt anyone.
After all, if Captain Cook didn't put in the effort and go that bit further, would we be here talking about why cobra are just so hard to buy.

number 1 what I buy will need to be auto or be able to be converted I have a smashed up lower left leg from a accident when I was 17 its a struggle just to walk on it let alone something with a heavy clutch ive always had to take the into account the price of that in my budget .
2 yes a sa car would have been a lot nicer but there not exactly thick on the ground .
3 ive flown down to see one car that turned out to be not really as advertised and ive spoken with 2 or 3 other sellers not exactly a lot when buying a car that's not quite as common as a falcon or commodore .
4 yes I would still preferred a ford powered car however it seems the old chev powered stigma from when I had my last cobra has subsided over the years and I am more open to powerplants than I first was .
5 yes I have been able to raise the budget somewhat since I first started looking don't shoot me for that or should I have bought the first crown chassis car just for the sake of owning a cobra ?
6 don't know who ice is but I think I was married to his sister she was a real ice cold queen :-).
sorry if my endeavour to find a car amuses some of you but to the guys offering good advice either on the page or via pm it is appreciated and I thank you .to others who seem its some kind of a joke just remember back when you bought/built yours I bet you asked a ****load of questions along the way before you put ya hand in your pocket .
cheers dean
sorry if my sense of humour has left the building ive been suffering with the flu the last 3 weeks that's left me cranky :-)

ive spoken with the owner of the rmc and he send me a copy of his engineers report that I forwarded onto our road transport they rejected it and I would have had to get the car re engineered from scratch with no promise it would pass without more money been spent . something I wasn't prepared to take the chance on .
I believe im doing plenty of leg work but in not going to fly interstate unless im sure I can get rego here first . some about due diligence I believe :-)

Good answer deano.
And nice playing along with the sledging.
The journey is half the fun!
I am sure the 6 speed, turbo 4, Datsun/Ferrari replica from Cairns that you end up with will be worth the hunt

Is there a full moon out tonght...?
Deano, your parameters are alowed to change.
If this car tickles your fancy, best of luck making a deal work with the owner.
Aussie mikes advice here carries worth, despite owning a (similar) one, his advise is true and holds no bias in my eyes.
Good luck with the hunt.
FWIW: For that sort of money... I'd be keen to try to make a deal on that red Robnell... But it would be a shame to mess with that and put an auto in it.
Gav - No need to shoot.

My baby
I have a cobra that is brand new (ready to register) with engineers report, but I can't drive it. It is run often, polished and wrapped up again. Would I sell it?, maybe, but I had it built for me, it was fun, exciting and stressful all in one. I have spent lots of money and time, and will never get it back. Just like my kids.
But if I sold it, I wouldn't want to hear all the things about it that others don't like (just like my kids). So I just look at it from afar and continue to dream and be happy. It's got an auto, it's brand new ready to go.
I might just give it to my son.
