Washer jets with long threads
I'm sure I can't be the first person to have this problem. I have the typical twin outlet chrome washer jets, and have drilled holes in the body, but the glass there is about 10mm thick and the threaded section on the jets is 10mm long (after removing rubber washer). I don't particularly want to back drill/dremel inside to reduce thickness of the glass.
I spent a while looking at a lot of pics on ebay and the only washer jets I can see with longer threads are some Land Rover ones but they're god awful ugly and the body that protrudes is really long also so they're out.
There are some options like fitting a nutsert to the body which I don't want to do because it requires quite a large hole, or just siliconing the jets in place which I also don't want to do as it's not exactly serviceable.
Most of the OE ones seem to be 'snap-in' and obviously designed for sheet metal panel thickness.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Modena.
10MM is ridiculously thick. You can easily reduce that down to 1/8" or 3MM more than safely. Does your body have core reinforcement under the cowl?
You can also use T nuts. They come in various sizes and depths.
You will need to bore the backside of the hole a little larger, but
not too much surgery.

thanks Mike, yes I did think of the tnut option the other day when I was at the playground with my kids and saw one, very timely. I think this is a good option.

I had the same problem I had about 8to 9 mm of glass
so I went in to repco & had a look at there parts cattle dogs & found IT out of A corvette as they are glass bodies & have a 12 mm thread & a thin nut called a waffle nut the books said so ordered & arrived in 3 days [[ THEY ONLY COME IN CHROME BUT

I'm looking for something similar myself. I need to tie the cowl section down to the Datsun framework at that point so I'm hoping to kill two birds with one stone. I wonder if these are chrome plated steel/brass or plastic?

Ben. There is a Jag wrecker only a couple of kms from me and I can pop in and check them out. Unfortunately I'm off to Wagga first thing tomorrow for a weekend wedding but I should be able to size one up on Monday.

Ben. I was able to inspect two jets. Neither had the rubber spacer but the plain shank was 5mm in length. The threaded portion was 15mm, giving a total length of 20mm.
Both jets were a dull grey finish, probably a diecast alloy. They did have wing-nuts on the threads and importantly, the thread was very coarse, like a coach bolt thread, so you would need to make sure you get the appropriate nuts with the jets. I'll probably drop back tomorrow (pension day) and pick them up.
He's always expensive (in this case $20 each, second-hand) but he always has every Jag bit.
