Default Coilover Shockers

My Harrison Build No 102 has Avo Shocks front and rear and have been serviced several times and are still weeping. Have looked at the Strange option for replacement but would appear to go for around the $1000 plus for a set of 4 single adjuster without springs. QA1's out of Summit look cheaper but I understand the coil retainers will need some machining to match the King Coils.
Any ideas for economic alternatives.
Regards
Trevor W

Are your coils 2.5" or 2.25"? If you get shocks to match why would they need machining?

I upgraded from my leaky AVO's to Single Adjustable QA1's this year from Summit - 4 x shocks and 2 x front springs - landed in Aus with freight $900. The springs on my AVOs were 2.25" dia. The QA1's were 2.5". The QA1 springs are only approx $40 ea so not a big deal.

The QA1's transformed my cars handling.

Cheers

Gregg

5000kms..all four AVO"s leaking...then one front one snapped clean in half at top mount..luckily approaching a speed hump and not at speed..towed it to Chris at centerline suspsension in Melb..awesome bloke..put two new Penske's on front...incredible difference..downside is the 3k bill....saving for the rear two now!...have heard nothing good about AVO and while im not going to slag them, I certainly wouldn't recommend fixing them.

My AVO are now leaking (front only) and I snapped a rear one earlier this year.

Another vote for QA1. I have the double adjustables with QA1 springs on my Harrison. The compression setting is set at 2 clicks and rebound around 8. I have 400lb springs on the front and 250lb at the rear. I'll probably upgrade all four corners by 50-100lb as the coilovers are pre-loaded (wound up) by about 1" to correct the ride height.

Im using Aldan Eagle. I havnt driven the car with them yet, but they look to be well made.

I have read a couple of bad reviews about Aldan, but also some really good ones. Given the installation of the shocks is very important for durability, its hard to know what reviews are due to the shocks and which are the installation (bad alignment, wrong angles etc).

Aldan American - High Performance Coliover Shock Absorbers i bought them from Yogis Inc Yogi's Inc. Parts for Street Rods, Muscle Cars and Classics

Are you going to let us know who you are and what you can do Mr AVO?
I am sure that plenty of us would like dry AVO shocks if that is possible?

Gaz shocks from UK are a good alternative to the US manufactured units.
Gaz Shocks Products | GAZ Shock Absorbers | GAZ GHA Suspension kits | GAZ Gold Suspension kits | Top Mounts | Camber Adjuster Plates

They will supply them to suit your spring diameter.

Mr AVO, if you are trying to add pictures or links, then they wont work until you have posted 10 times.

Are you a service agent for them?

Yes, that must be the issue.

I am the Australian distributor, and have all the parts, dyno and shocks. I hope I can help. The link above that Aussie Mike has kindly posted is correct.
