Yeah, I figure it will need cleanng up and maybe holes centred but happy to take the risk at that price.

That's pretty normal for SBF motors. Remember they don't have a deep skirted block like the LS motors. The flange is about at the crank center line.
Might want to look at putting some kind of baffle in there though.
Cheers

Yeah will put a basic baffle in but like a stock sump it should be fine for just cruising. Sump looks same as stock steel item. If no good will look cool hanging on the wall.....lol.

Started stripping the EFI harness out of the AU today. The harness needs a bit of seperating from other sections. I need to order a chip from TPI to bypass the Ford smart
Lock system and few other things like turning off the body control module access. This chip also allows minor adjustment of mixtures and timing.
Will get it all seperated and test all works ok while the motor is still in the Falcon then remove motor and 5 speed for detailing.

Here's the link to the chip you need to run the standard fuel injection ecu in an engine conversion as it turns off Smart lock, body control module and all the other issues with engine swaps.
T.I. Performance | Stage 1 J3 Chip
I am planning on changing the intake manifold to an efi victor junior with 4 barrel efi throttle body. I will then modify the base plate of the air cleaner to incorporate the airflow meter. I guess i could buy a massflow but not sure if the motor will pass emissions with that set up.

Thanks mate. There's a fair chance I'll need one of those.

If you are going AU motor with factory ECU then you will need it, no other way round it. Unless you run the matching key and body control module and so on....lots of pain in that.

There is another way but you need to know someone or be lucky like me and strike one of the young development engineers that worked on that stuff.
He had access to the original Ford gear used to set up the AU's so I had it all disabled in the ECU directly. No smartlock, BCM or matching key required.
But then there weren't really chips available either for ages for the Fords, so it was always a hard nut to crack the AU stuff simply.
Anyway good luck with your tweaks.

The J3 is no stress. Bang it in the back of the Ecu start engine ,$130 .ecu dies swap it again. Get a 220kw cam down load the factory map and you're good. OBD2 plug for diagnosis. Hardest Part is cleaning up and separating the harness's ,then add relays for fuel pump and sensor power and you have a stand alone factory EFI with perfect manners. I'm planing on keeping the factory EFI this time, so need to clean it up real nice. Challenge is to hide the afm Massflo style.

The alloy sump turned up, very nice, maybe on the thin side but very happy with finish. Will test fit it to dummy block tomorrow. Also TIP sent my chip so can get started on the harness separation.

I have no idea what all that means, but whatever it is, you make it sound easy.
We need some more pictures.

A bead blasted satin finish with polished fins would look good too.
Cheers
