Hi Chris
Thanks for replying. Any chance of a pic of your engine and your 40?

Thought i would continue my hard investigation in my own thread. This is the type of hard top im thinking....love the way it goes almost to the back of the car. I think the car is a Dax. Someone explain how the boot works?

Would an alloy body actually take a hartop? and i guess maybe some under alloy panel support maybe needed?

Kirkham have an option for an aluminum LeMans hard top. It's about $15K US though.

Looks to me like the window section pivots as I can see a rear latch on the window to boot join, plus I can see a join line in the window to main roof section also. makes sense, pivot the window out of the way then lift the boot. I like that style too, looks better than the squarer roof lid's I have seen IMHO.

I think Paul Samson brought in one of those hard tops and was adapting it to his Harrison. It's made in the UK to suit a DAX body. He sold it a while back. The rear window does open like a hatch back car to let you open the boot.

There are some better pics of it here DB Hardtop For Sale

Cheers

Dave - have you seen Allen Bishop's thread from several years ago on improvements he made to his 289FIA Cobra replica, ERA 2124, including mods to his boot/trunk?
Here it is.... Ownership Log – ERA#2124
One of the first things he did was to add a hardtop. He went through all of the mods that he needed to do to end up with a great hardtop conversion. The rest of his 'improvement' thread makes fascinating reading as well.

Cheers,
Glen

Some nice pics showing a painted and a polished alloy hardtop. You can also see the reverse boot hinge in the last pic.

Yeah, it's the 289, but it's a nice way to visualise how it would look.

That hardtop is a DB hardtop. Paul imported 2 of these with the aim of making copies and making them available to other cobra owners. In the end there wasn't enough interest and I bought one of the two of him. It's been a long time gathering dust but I have finally finished adapting it and I am currently waiting for it to get painted by my brother in law ( family ughhh ).. I will post some pics soon.

Awesome news from Pace today Mark has finished the body. It looks so beautiful sitting on the stand. Still some work to go and swinging panels to be made....but the body is free from the buck and looking sensational.....Cobra dreams tonight....lol..
