For those who like their Corvettes in a different flavour...
Simon Templer would love it.

That's one of the better ones I've seen. I saw one that was done like a 57 chev in front and a 59 chev in the rear.

Ahhh Volvo 1800S ... I've always liked them.
Would go real well with a 302 windsor.

Yes, but do you think that frame is strong enough?

Love it!!! Are you building this for the street or is it a targa/circuit car? If the rear rollbar tube is hidden completely by the split window bodywork, you're a genius!
Muzza, I always thought it would be fun to try to register a 7/8 scale Hairy Glass pro-mod 55 Chev. Hmmm... I have a spare supercharged big block Chev just waiting to go into something. Is this a lightbulb moment?!?

This is going to be a fully licensed ( ICV ) street driven car, Ls3, Tremec 6060,ZF diff. Chassis has been engineer approved, been torsional and beam tested @ over 8500Nm/deg.Once floor, trans tunnel and bulk heads are in should be close to 10000Nm/deg. Primarily thin wall tube i.e. 1.6mm and chassis weight is about 160kg.
The Cobra was going to face some tough competition from the Corvette Grand Sport in 63/64, a stripped down racing version. However only 5 were made then GM pulled the pin.

Super cool mate. Do you have a build thread on any websites/forums? I'd like to watch this car evolve!

Yes, they're all very nice but I have done a few scratch builds over the years!
Although my chassis is not as elaborate as the 'vette one it is however strong enough for the application.

Jeez kids get it good these days. Pump-up tyres, roller bearing wheels and a craftsman to make it for 'em.
We used to have to wait for dad to make a trip to the tip and rat wheels and axles off the old prams or strollers. These were the skinny, solid rubber tyred wheels about 6 or 7" round with fixed steel spokes. You hit the jack pot if you scored ones with the oiling hole in the centre hub. You had to oil them each run to get maximum speed.

I thought the pram wheels sucked. OK for just straight line speed but our hill had a few bends in it and you needed t be able to drift a bit to get down it. Pram wheels would often collapse under the side loads resulting in a big stack. Old lawn mower wheels worked well.
Cheers

Sorry to tangent so far off Tenroccas topic.....
But my old man built my go cart out of steel. Had a water pipe bumper bar, a welded shackle to tow a trailer, front suspension......AND oxy acetylene bottle trolley SOLID STEEL WHEELS. It was the mad max version before Mad Max. Couldn't steer it then and still cant steer now. Nothings changed!
