CSX 2430 is a favourite!

CSX2430 is nice.
To me, Lynn Park's rebuild of CSX2259 is the epitome of a racing Cobra...

and Andrew if you wanted a paint job that is a little bit different, cause we know that is your thing , but still stay original, then copying C_S_X_2_3_0_1 could be an idea.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rego/compliance/etc aside, my ultimate Cobra would be a 289FIA with a 13.5:1 compression short stroke, small journal small block with all of the lightweight billet and titanium and beryllium internals that money could buy. Throw in some monster high port 400cfm @ .800" heads and a ridiculous solid roller camshaft with valve spring pressures that would make a weightlifter wince. Top it all off with a crank driven dry sump pump, a 7.25" clutch and Spook's Holinger sequential. With it's barely muffled side exiting pipes, alloy panelled interior, a tach that shows a choppy 1200rpm idle, an unusable rpm range under 3000rpm and a redline of 9500rpm, the picture is complete.

OK, I've just come back from a cold shower. For those who haven't seen the differences between a 289FIA and a 427 body style... 289FIA vs 427

The 289 comp cars had such a variety of body shapes, as the front/rear wheel arches on Tenrocca's selection of cars above shows.

CSX2431 is one of my favourites from the era.

Not sure if this one is still around, it turned up at a NSW club meeting at a pub on the Pacific Hwy at Killara back in about '96 or '97. All alloy FIA replica, 4 webber 289. It was loud and brutal.

The dude said it was an original 289 slab side used to replicate the FIA. The work was done in N.Z by the Kiwi engineer/driver? on the Shelby team, name escapes atm.

Here's another great 289. It's COB6008. Was picked up direct from the AC factory in this configuration (ie cut-back doors, FIA rear flares and near standard roadster front flares.
Being a 'COB' car, it's RHD, and it has the standard roadster drop-centre dash.

Cheers,
Glen

Great photos David. I'd forgotten all about that car. I recall it was not an original Shelby, but had been "endorsed" by Shelby as a one-off replica.
You can buy the magazine that featured the car here...

Nope, it won't take much longer...once you get a couple dozen posts under your belt. Newbies do not get to post pics or links in order to filter spammers. with a few thousand posts being generated weekly, we don't go around looking for attempts to post pics and then approve them. That being said, your pics are up.

Stick around, become part of the family and you'll enjoy the benefits.
