Matt, the central bulge is open to the rear and sucks the engine heat out. The 2 x front facing scoops either side of the centre bulge push cool air into the engine bay. The 2 smaller forward facing vents on the scupper panel close to the windscreen direct cool air to the foot wells.

I got taken for a lap in the continental tyres GT2 driven by Horst Von Saurma (see link, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horst_von_Saurma) and despite it being the most increadable car experience in my life, when we dropped into the Karussell after the rest of the track, I got double vision and cracked a rib, maybe not cracked, but it's rough).

Just an awesome photo though.

That is certainly a great shot!

The drop into Karussell is quite an eye opener but nothing compared to being shot out the other side!

Default New wheels and tyres

Hi, well I'm finally getting to the car to measure up some new rims and tyres for it. The current rims and tyres are
Rear 295/30 18 on 18 x 10.5 +25mm OS/170mm backspace +4mm spacer
Front 265/35 18 on 18 x 10 +31mm OS/170mm backspace

The current set up sticks out 15mm from the rear guards and fouls the coilover without the spacer and the front scrub on full lock on the A arms.

So unlike cobras I want a taller or equal tyre profile in the rear. I need to stay with 18's due to my large brakes.

So far, I reckon I have the rears correct. They'll be 275/40 18 NTO1's 18 x 9.5with +28mm OS/161.35 backspace. They sit in under the guards at full compression and miss the coil overs internally at full droop.

The fronts are more of a question. (the fronts in the pic aren't exactly what I'm looking to do. They are 235/40 18 on 18 x 8.5) so a 245/40 will be taller and fuller looking but same essentially frontspace position.

I either go 245/40 on 18 x 8 or 275/35 on 18 x 9.5. Any thoughts or comments?

I know Serpent (Theo) has mentioned he runs 18 x 9.5 with a 150mm backspace (+16.65mm offset) all round but there is no way that OS will clear my rear coil overs in teh rear and it'd protrude my front guards another 8mm more s just goes to show all cars are different.

So feedback on using an 8inch wide front or 9.5 would be appreciated. I've got planet of spare race rims for the car so essentially is road and drive to sprints fun as well as making the car look a little more correctish.

Hi Matt,

By way of Clarification, I had to move my coilovers inboard on the rears so my tyres and wheels did not foul them. There already was another position on the bottom location point (ie further inboard) to connect them to. However, this meant they would foul on the chassis so I had to scallop one of the chassis bars to overcome this.

If this does not make sense will show you at the Nationals.

Theo just had a look and shocks are already set up as inboard. Hmmm. I'm looking forward to having a good look at yours. Bit of a bigger I'm not bringing mine for comparison but never mind.

I did chase up DSC for some set up advice but got no responses so I'm Robinson Crusoe sussing it out as I go. Next job is the Ac pulley once wheels are done. That set up is crying out for a decent solution. Matt

From vague memory of looking at the chassis of one of these the shock mounts to the upper control arm. Is that the case with yours? It wouldn't be hard to modify the shock mount to bring the shock a little further inboard and give you the required clearance. I did that when I narrowed my rear end to make room potentially for a 12" wide rear rim (Only running 11" rears at the moment).

On mine the shock mounts to the wheel hub and has 2 location points. We are dealing with millimetres so not a lot of flexibility.

As to DSC, my understanding is that they have had different wheel hubs so it mat be that ours are different Matt.

All will be revealed at the Nationals

Interesting development fyi...

Nitto NT01 tyres ARE NOT legal in Australia to be used on the street. Race tyre only despite the DOT claim. My tyre guy told me today about the issue when I enquired as to pricing and as a matter of curiosity I emailed another well known Sydney supplier to be told regarding my legality question that

"" They are DOT approved but stated on the tyre “RECOMMENED FOR COMPETITION USE ONLY” so best to check with an engineer or your local traffic authority in your state to confirm if they will allow you to run them on the street.""

Hmmm kind of long winded way to say NO don't you think? Buyer beware.

if they're DOT approved then they're legal eh? "Recommended" means just that?

Do you know Rod Hadfield's Merlin powered '55 Chev? It's road legal in Victoria, but can't say I would recommend it for the street....or hmmm ok maybe I would
