Default Security/Alarm

I'm after some advice/recommendations on a suitable security system/alarm. I guess the main problem will be people wanting to poke around or sit in the car when they think no-one is around. Any suggestions?

I believe that some of our American friends take their cousins with them a lot of the time. I think they are reasonably influential.............Merrs Smith & Wesson or their 2nd cousin Mr Windchester. I have heard that a distant relative Herr Glock has on occasion visited to help as well.

Wolfy

When I chose my Mongoose security system to meet the ADR's for car immobilisation, I discovered and bought an extra module that plugs in and provides cabin space sensing.

I trialled it for a while and decided it might be a bit too sensitive and took it off again.

However when the car is back on the road again, it will have a tonneau in use. I am thinking about the sensor as the secondary back up if someone was really keen and started to unzip the tonneau for whatever reason.

Not sure if the system could be set up to selectively choose when to activate the sensor as that might be the ideal fix.

Not sure if other security systems offer this module but I thought it a nice option.

Now all you have to do is get your head around the fact that you want to place a mongoose and cobra together - as perennial enemies in real life - lol

Yep, when I put Ellie in the Cobra, nobody comes near us. Lately she's been trying to take the wheel, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

Nice slowy, a serious answer

Patrick - that's embarasssing

I was toying with the idea of a camera, mounted somewhere visible like on the rollbar perhaps, with a flashing led, all pointing into the car. Even a fake one might be a good deterrent.

Otherwise the gps tracking thing I was thinking about, but that doesn't really provide a visible or audible deterrent on its own.

I used the rhino Rav2 which is pretty good I reckon. There are subsequent better later models in their range now too.

I like the knock sensor. E.g. Open the door or bump it etc.

I didn't install the siren as I find they annoy me cause I set them off myself more than the bad guys.

Cheers

Gregg

I have it happen alot with the 40...people just piss their pants over the car and forget common decency they try open doors and get in.....like they revert to Ape senses. Im thinking of sticker right near my door....something like 'Touch my car and I'll smash with a bat'.

If you put door courtesy light switches in, connected to a horn/siren on a timer, that would deter opening doors more than once.
If you put a pressure mat under the carpet (or whatever flooring) and connect it to the above horn setup, you would deter anyone standing in the car more than once.
If you put a pressure mat under the seat upholstery/cover and connect it etc. for anyone sitting in the car.

Currently investigating the Viper 5906 and 5706. Has an optional tilt sensor (if they jack of tow the car) and you can get movement sensors that are compatible.
