315 to 335 35 R17 tyres - Sydney

Am having no luck with treads for my Coupe as I try to get it to gokart stage.

Have seen a post in the Nationals forum re some 315 - KU36 coming to AU inside the next 4-6 weeks.

Can get Nitto NTO5's for the front (275/40/R17) easy enough.. but NOTHING for the rear...in any brand.

Called Matthews / Tempe and a couple of locals with no joy.

Look forward to any leads or suggestions.

With thanks

Chris

Try ITT - International Tyre Trader (on ebay too) - for KU36's

cheers

thanks Greg,

Will give them a go.. (edit - they have the KU36)

A number of the dealers are advising the 17's in the required widths are being discontinued.Any thoughts on whether it would be better switch to 18's at this stage ..?

How about TireRack in the USA. Have both KU36 and R888.

Sizes in stock, price with exchange is not overly bad (sure its been better in the past, but when you need something, its an alternative). And you will most likely have these within 6-8 days

These are the only 335/17 left that I could find. Everything else is discontinued!! Michelin's.

PHAT!!
Please post a pic from the rear when fitted

Thanks Gents,

Had advice a range of 17" treads have been discontinued as well, which will only make them harder to get over time.

Am thinking I should swap to 18" at this point of the build fix the front and rear offset issues and put the 17" Halibrands back up for sale.

Tire Rack are only listing Michelins in 335/35/17.

hi Scooter..

Found a set of sumitomo's in 315 rear but they dont seem to do delivery to Australia... ?

scootter 08-17-2015 03:14 PM

Tire Rack doesn't deliver there?

SydneyChris 08-17-2015 04:23 PM

I cant get an option to edit the delivery fields and the site only accepts US post codes and cities

TireRack will deliver to Australia, you need to contact them and they will work out a cost with FedEx.

For what its worth, my suggestion is to steer away from the Sumo 315's. They measure smaller and depending on the rim size that you are looking for these to go on, these may not measure up.

Have a google search and you will come across examples and especially compared to a Goodyear GSD3.

I am not being critical for the Sumo 315's for all the owners out there, however I am saying not all numbers are the same.

I had GSD3 (285 40 17) on my previous car with 10.75inch rims, this gave a nice square sidewall and was good to drive with.

275/40R17 who makes the widest?

thanks Leroy...

Noted re Tyre Rack.. they dont have an email contact option.. only email a friend.. ! lol.. then the Support line is open to suit the US time zone.

(ITT are now out of stock last check for the KU36 as well.. !)

If the Sumo's arent highly recommended it seems its better to change out to 18" rims and get a more readily available selection.

Get on the phone to tirerack. That's the easiest way to deal with them from Australia. I've bought several sets of tyres from them.

I've also bought from International Tyre Trader in Australia and had good dealings with them

http://www.tyretrader.com.au

They are showing the KU36 in 315/35/17 to be in stock and only $300 each

Search

Ordered.. thanks Mike... they werent showing first thing this morning.

Cheers

I got a set of Pirelli's from tirerack for another car. Great service.

They were out of stock at the time, I told them I want 2 front and 2 rear and a few months later got an email saying that they had put aside a set for me and did I want to go ahead. I went yes and 7 days later they rocked up at my door.

I run the KU36 in 315/35/17 on the rear. Seems a bit bad if I can't get this anymore.

I waited 15 months to get some KU36's in 315. Got sick of waiting.
Ended up fitting 285 as interim as thats all they could get at the time.
The 315 is the correct width for my rim and would be bad if I cant get them at all.
