Default Project Westfield

Found this little Fella needing a new home and some love. It's a Westfield SEW Aussie version. Chassis #12 so she is an old girl for sure. Used my Pace finishing kit budget to buy it so guess I'll go without seats and windscreen in 427.

Plan is to fully strip recoat ,repaint and engine upgrade. I have had a few Westys in the past but never built one fully so here goes.

What a cool project to have now that you finished your previous project and waiting for your current project.

Great cars, handle awesome. Would be interesting to have a little rover 3.5 v8 in there just for Sh!t and giggles.

It has a Toyota 20v 4 in it. I don't want that, was thinking LS or maybe even Lexus v8.
Lots of decisions to Make....

Dave its unusual for you to get distracted on another project.

The v8 option is certainly the way to go...

Good project have fun.

Hmmm Rover 3.5 , I wonder if it complies with ADR 37/01? Just needs to pass a 5 gas. Rotor motor would be cool or a bike engine....keep the motor options coming Lads.

Hey Bernie
Yeah I get distracted easy...lol....pace is at least a year away, Mark Nugent tells me he might get started on the panels early in the new year, the buck is nearly ready. Mark has a lot of awesome projects on the go, look him up on FB if you get a chance.

Dave I once saw a Westy at Speed on Tweed that had been driven over from Adelaide. It was powered by a fuel injected Nissan Skyline six. The owner said its performance was superb, both in power and torque, and its five speed box allowed relaxed (if you can ever be relaxed in a clubman type car) highway cruising. I didn't ask about the handling -- that's always a given with these cars.

Just another something to mull over ....

At the risk of being branded a heretic I'm wondering when a turbo XR6 motor will find its way into a Cobra too.

My daily is a XR6 Turbo....I keep thinking when is someone going to build a kit that replicates something that I can put the motor into? Looked at the the D type kits a few times....

Whilst I love your style Dave, and I have never gotten tired of listening to the gentle beat of 8 cylinders in a V configuration tearing at the very fabric of the air we breath, I reckon it would be a much nicer car with a supercharger or a turbo on a DOHC 4 cylinder, or even a worked V6 as Lotus had done with the Evora.

Common sense is kicking in and the thought of just getting the 20v toyota motor going is growing on me, My Son wants a drive so maybe 120kw is enough for him to have fun with...

Yep, was going to say I did not realize Mark Nugent was building the Pace body, will be watching even more now.
I love watching a true craftsman.

I believe with the quality workmanship of Mark using old skool techniques to build the body on a Pace supplied perfect shape buck combined with the State of the art Alloy Pace chassis this will be a fantastic combination, infact I would go as far to say World Leader. Or at the least a new benchmark in replica car production......I just need to make sure my skills are sharp enough to do the car justice in the build....
