Im hoping you are wrong, 8+ months of time and effort so far , not to mention the amount of funds, even though ive given up trying to put a final amount on it.
As ive mentioned , I have been building this whilst talking with a current engineer here in NSW, so I hope it does get on the road.
Support is much needed in these builds, so appreciate it.

Didn't get much of a chance on molding the body yet, but hoping to be starting it next weekend. Will post the progress shots once I have more to show.

Well mold is off the plug, got alot of wetsand in and polishing to do yet.

Seeing it all laid it like that reminds me of the life size Airfix-style DBR1 model that was on display at Goodwood a few years back.



Looking forward to seeing one sitting on its wheels. I'm still trying to imagine what a 2/3 scale car will look like with 100mm ground clearance.

It will be fun to see how this project turns out.

Assuming you've already seen both of these:

But closer to this, Japanese "baby Cobras" running a turbocharged, 720cc mill with 158 horsepower. Don't know the scale, but kinda cool too. I'd like to see one next to a full size.

Im using locost front wishbones with gaz coil overs, rear will bw a triangulated 4 link with the coil overs, Hilux Shortened LSD diff with 4.55 ratio, Cooper s steering rack with 2.4:1 ratio, Suzuki swift steering column, hope that answers your query.

Have not seen these, very impressive, one big difference is im intending on that you will get one of my cars on the road for less than half of that $49k price tag. Oh that and my car will have 200hp, with the ability to push that up to 500 with a turbo.

Well body is out of the mold, few mods to do but the chassis is going to be started very soon.

They are 15" rims with 195/45/15 tyres.

I can't drive most Cobras yet a Lotus Elise which is supposed to be a tiny car presents no problems. But you're right -- I'd better stick to my Arntz for the time being.

Rob, I see how much more space people have when they collect motorcycles. Collecting scaled down cars could be a good compromise... Cobra first, then a 7/8 scale 55 Chev

Mick, I'm assuming the bonnet scoop is that size and shape because its needed to cover a tall engine?

Hi David,
Yes it is mate, allowing the 100mm ground clearance , with this bonnet scoop I will have 10mm to play with above the carbys. Already had to raise the whole bonnet and nose section by 100mm to achieve this, much more then it would just look way too wrong.
Im hoping I have enough now, also going to have to make a custom Air box, should prove to be interesting, add that with the oil tank ( dry sump) oil cooler radiator and radiator, real estate is becoming a premium in such a small front end.

Chassis started, also had to lengthen the body 200 mm to fit everything in.

Good to see your chassis taking shape. I assume you need to licence this as an ICV ? If so are you required to meet all ICV criteria such as torsional and beaming tests,side intrusion etc. for your chassis, minimum of 6000Nm/deg of chassis deflection. Cars like Clubmans (Lotus 7 replicas) could not possibly meet these guidelines for the torsional tests, so they seem to have a different formula for testing based on power to weight.Curious as to where your vehicle fits in, as it will determine how you build your chassis.Thanks for sharing your build (@Y@)

Hi, You are absolutely right, this will be registered under an ICV, and yes I do have to comply with the Torsion tests, beaming and intrusion tests just to name a few, thats why it is all been made out of 2 x 1" RHS rather than out of 1" as what most Clubmans are constructed from. To get it thru the ADR's I do have to use already compliant components like the Steering rack, column, suspension components, differential and brake system. I am building this very closely with the engineer so to minimise any confusion.
