Boxhead's Cobra sale
Re advertising after site crash.
Thinking about selling my Cobra, most of you all know it, but here comes an add in case you don't, plus I would like it shared too please.
Classics Revival Shelby Cobra replica, purchased in 2004 as a kit (pic of white body/chassis on trailer is as it arrived in Alice.
Fitted a rebuilt (stock) LS1 as removed from a HSV (250kw from memory) Also has T56 6speed manual, the shifter has been moved forward in the box (done properly to retain reverse lock out) also by doing this really tightens up the shift pattern. B&M shifter assy, currently has stock clutch, but I have an Excedy heavy duty clutch with alloy lightened flywheel as part of the sale. Engine has had a Mafless tune done and now makes 274kw at the back wheels.
Series 3 Jag front control arms, stub axle and brakes.
Coil over AVO shocks with King Springs and custom made adjustable sway bar. Shocks can be adjusted for ride height and compression/rebound rate.
Rear suspension is Ford AU XR8 fully independent, with standard brakes. Also has coil over shocks, currently has cheap ones in as one of the AVO's snapped a top eye (can be rebuilt in Australia) AVO's come with the car.
Current diff centre has "popped" LSD centre, car comes with another Diff that can be rebuilt with better gear ratio.
Runs standard VN fuel tank, also standard VN brass radiator (call me old fashion but I prefer brass for the ability to withstand debris better).
Custom made tailshaft by Hardy Spicer.
Custom made headers from a DeFillipo kit and Aussie Mike built side pipes, these are able to be dismantled to add or remove baffling.
VL commodore manual steering rack (easy upgrade to power steer for quicker ratio).
Fuel system is standard VN V8 pump into a custom made swirl pot, this pot has factory VT Commodore in tank pump fitted inside it.
Has correct working auxiliary cooling fans in the nose (for the race car look), also has VN electric fan fitted to radiator.
Has correct (direct replacement in genuine car) chromed brass windscreen frame from UK (screen has a chip but new screen supplied, these are also available through O'Briens glass).
New Pricol gauges fitted at time of building the car, has genuine Smiths clock.
Has MG handbrake handle in the cabin.
MotoLita steering wheel.
Revolution Racegear "Cobra" seats with removable headrests.
Lap sash seat belts, plus 4 point racing Harness fitted.
Willwood master cylinders with bias adjustment in dash.
Adjustable pedal box for longer or shorter legs.
Comes with 15 inch rims with correct Goodyear "Billboard" tyres, also has 17 inch Halibrands copies with Kumho Ecsta KU36 tyres.
Comes with tonneau cover for cabin for when towing, zipper along centre so can be fitted to just passenger side if driving long distances.
Has correct LeMans style filler with ULP pipe.
Fitted with Lucas LP700 tribar headlights.
The car was built with the "period correct, dirty race car" look in mind.
Body has had a quick tidy up and 2k tinted primer applied.
I always intended to paint the car, but just enjoyed driving her and not worrying about stone chips.
The auxiliary oil cooler isn't plumbed to the engine yet, but it does come with the adaptor to fit this, I am also pretty sure I have the temp thermostat for oil cooler there too.
Will also be supplied with small "Aero screen" windshield as seen in some pics.
Car has been fully engineered in NT and all paperwork is supplied, has been on full Reg but now on club plates (non transfereable) can put on full Reg for NT buyer at actual cost of rego. Due to Australian law, each State or Territory do not recognise other states engineers paperwork, so if you live elsewhere and want full Reg, you will require engineering again, but my understanding is that club Reg won't require engineering again (we can thank stupid Australian Gov for that)
I drove the car from Alice to Innisfail and return soon after completing the build, great fuel economy if cruising.
Don't have to sell, so listing at what I feel is correct price, not interested in offers.
$70000.00
I am able to assist with relocating the car at a cost.
0419800486
Cheers, David.
As delivered to Alice, September 2004.
During build.
Dash layout.
Racing at Nationals, 2008.
Pulled apart for build to pass engineering, adding things like rubber under chassis etc.
On our way to National 2010 I believe.
Getting ready to fit BillBoards.
Current look.

And the real question mate, why??
It would be a shame to see the "mustard" beast go, but have you another car adventure in mind?
Perhaps something you found resting in the sands way out west in need of refurbishment??
In the words of Ms Hanson - "Please Explain"

Slowy, Box might be replacing his beautiful Cobra with this...
OK, to be fair Box's potential purchase might be a little bit better than this one...

The start point was a 1934 3 window Plymouth with big block chev.
That car is now off the market though.
But I have resigned myself to the fact that I just dont use it as much as I should, and right now (having just bought our retirement house) $70k cash would just about pay to do the extensions and renovations we would have been holding off to do when we sell our house in Alice.
The boss has said I can buy what I want with money from our house sale in Alice.
So a Daytona is high on the list, but a Club Reg Stratos has a very high chance of making the cut too.
Always wanted a Cobra, and now have owned one, I no doubt will regret my decision the minute I shake hands on a deal, but I will want a roof and water tight when we move south (No Cobra will ever be truly water tight) and as nice as the hardtops are, to me a Cobra is an open top car.

Replica of original.
Looks like they do a kit to suit 3.5 litre V6 Toyota mated to 6 speed manual

Better see if you fit in one first Dave. I read that they are very cramped inside.
Cheers

Always a good point to keep in mind.
Some of my favourite cars are really cramped, like a superkart, and I'm only 5ft 11.

You could pop up the road to Darwin if looking for a new toy.
Manheim at Berrimah have a red toy for sale in their salvage listing at the moment.
For some unknown reason it is painted ferrari red.
Don't tell anyone OK!!
cheers
