Yes...the questionnaire should go out in the next day or so.

It's important that all of these discussions and proposed changes get out to as many of the Cobra community as possible to find out what we can do to get them to attend.
Although this forum generates input from those who read it, the fact is that VERY few club members ever look at it....so I'll send it out and ask for their input.
Cheers

Well done to everyone for their contributions and special thanks to Tenrocca and all Clubs Pres's/NSW Nats committee. All great ideas and no matter what your preferences Im sure something positive for all parties can be gained to encourage participation.

We should have asked if club members are aware of Club Cobra as a source of information for Australia enthusiasts on the survey. I believe that there are many that watch and read it but who aren't visually active. If you do a search on this site for Australian members only you will find there are 2384 currently registered users who base nominate their country as Australia. Deduct 50% as non club people and it still leaves you a $hitload or people who at one stage or another found value in being a part of this forum. If you look at many of the names they have a big zero (0) next to number of posts yet they have been members for 2,3 + years.

Some great feedback coming in on the survey already. Really keen to hear from more folk who used to go but don't anymore. That said, someone has a very good friend in "Wome" who has responded......just waiting for one from his wife.

COBRA NATIONALS SURVEY 2016

Just a reminder to complete this if you haven't had a chance. Only takes a minute or 2. Especially those that tend not to attend nationals anymore but used to - dont have a lot of responses from this group and it would be great to get un understanding of the reasons why.

Cheers

Thanks Dave - I see you sold your car. Congrats on the sale, but your pretty little thing was missed this year. Been a regular at nationals for as long as I have at least.

Cheers

Hey Matty,

Kim did present the findings at the last NSWCC meeting I believe.

A few overall observations:

* People overall believe the event is good value

Ideas folk liked:
* Catering for family\spouses through additional social activities
* Driver training aspect
* Lower cost (obviously)

Less favourable ideas:
* Sharing the weekend with another club
* Greater emphasis on show and shine
* Dyno comp

Giving up the Friday Practice had mixed opinions.

Most common reason for not attending for those who have never entered is that they don't want to damage the car. Most common reason for those that have attended in the past but don't any more is that they have sold the car.

The overall feeling from looking at the responses is that the event really does not need significant changes - most people are very happy with the format. Few would be prepared to travel as far as they do for a predominantly social event.

Im sure Kim will jump on at some stage and give his feelings from the results and any subsequent discussions.

Cheers

Thanks mate. Seems like overall a good result.

To add to that to help attract a positive outcome for the event, early and consistent promotion/advertising/geeup is needed to help guarantee the events overall success. Lots of ideas on this....................

Thanks for the update.

Just on a side, perhaps reconsider the term practice in "Friday Practice".
I feel it may have a subliminal race connotation that suggests to people the possibility of "car damage".

Finicky and picky, even perhaps semantic... but calling it something like "Fun Friday" (I'm certain others would have better ideas), where you can improve, and test your car skills, and legally speed, might appeal to a new group.

This will still allow for those trying to squeeze 10/10ths out of their cars, but also make those at 6-7/10s feel the love.

Just my 2 cents...

Once again, thanks for all that you guys do!

They call it Friday practice because people are practicing and its held on the Friday.

Oooooohhhh.....now I get it Gav.
I always wondered where that name came from....
ya smart arth...ha ha

Not a bad point though....."Track day"..."Fun Day"...might sound less daunting for some.

For some it's certainly practice.

That annual reality check when after doing quick times the year before....
and having a whole year thinking about how "NEXT" year you'll shave off another second or two a lap....

and the first few "practice " laps are about 5 seconds slower...and you start to think they've done something to the track to make it longer/slower...ha ha
And then , once you get in the groove....the times get quicker as your "Bravety" ( It's a real word) levels get higher .

As long as the guys chasing the quicker times , get separated from the more social driver...then all should have a good day.

It's a bit daunting when you are driving around the track, and a much faster car zooms past....I imagine...

Cheers,
Warren

We could always call it 'Discovery Day' - to discover WTF is immediately going to go wrong and can it be fixed before events are missed or we could always borrow Wakefield's term of 'Test and Tune'.

As a first timer this year, I can honestly advise anyone vaguely contemplating coming next year for the first time. I too was a bit nervous having never really 'tracked' before, but it was and is surprisingly less scary and intimidating than I thought. As Wazzza says, the racers and us newbies and other slowies are kept apart mostly. If a quicker car gets in your group, everyone is really good and good basic road skills work (use your mirrors!) so it's not really that scary at all.

Go for it. And just drive at 80%. It's still great fun.

Hi all.
Just playing devil's advocate for a sec, I find it a little peculiar in that a review of this event, brought about by lower than ideal attendance, would find that nothing significant needs to change.

Seems you have run a circular arguement, and got a finding in reality that says, those who attended last time are likely to do so again. But, if the quest was for greater attendance, you surely cannot expect to do the same thing and get a different result.

Einstein had words to say about that.

Just a thought is all

Hi Tim
How can we change the Nationals to attract WA and SA entrants?

Tim,

There has been a fair bit of discussion and analysis of the data by the NSW club. They are well aware of what needs to change and what does not.

The way I see it:-

Sometimes you can have the right product, but your target market shrinks. Bigger isn't always better.

Cheers,

Ben

If the NSWCC details exactly what they want the event to be and its perimeters then I guess we can quantify the best process to achieve it.

If more attendees is not what they want they need then no need to travel down that path to increase it. There going to be an action and opposite reaction to whatever is decided.

As I mentioned in my other topic there seems to be a lot more commentary on other website mediums these days so perhaps lots going on outside CC circles.

Whatever they decide Im hoping to be able to support its attendance in 2017.
