I just got word from my compliance engineer tonight that we are all systems go for an LSA so time to place my order for that. Now just need to do some more work on the trans research. I'm going to try and get some dimension comparisons from GM on the 6spd auto v the 10spd. If the 10spd is going to mean lots of cutting and shutting then I might just go with a sequential 6spd. Filling out the ICV application next week.
Keep the good advice coming.

From afar the thought of it and romance of it sounds ideal. Tranquil and pleasant is the image of a boat anchored off the shore with the sun setting behind it. But the reality couldn't be further from the truth, when you're on the boat. Wind-burned, sun-burned, sea sprayed, and salt sprayed, Rocking and rolling, sea-sick and vomiting. Miles from home and a decent meal, coffee or hot chocolate.
2nd vote for brushed finish and polished stripes.

Polished ! No problem... Get it done then a nice coat of POR-15 "Glisten". It's a clear coat designed to go over and stick to polished metal surfaces. It is also a "soft" finish so I would resist stone chips.

As long as you're ok with it yellowing after some exposure to UV light.

I DID THE POR [GLISTEN ] TO MINE & 12MONTHS later they went to yellow then took $ 200 bucks to strip & re polish
DONT POR 15 GLISTEN

Yeah sorry. I apologize to all those traditionalists out there. I fully respect you guys but I am one of those other guys. For me the big picture is the wow factor of it being a bit different to anything else out there. I want to experience comfort, power and a little luxury with a twist of the 60's. One day my desires might change but that's how it is this time round.
Heated seats now found so comfortable winter cafe cruising is going to be a reality!

Latest progress report.
My new LSA engine arrived today and the trans arrives on Wednesday. I tried my best to try something left of field with sourcing a GM 10 speed auto but it just wasn't meant to be as I hit a couple hurdles way to big for my liking so I have settled for the HSV GTS 6 speed auto which should mate up nicely to the LSA. Only a matter of weeks now before the Alumina has a heart beat. Plenty of work still to go but the serious part is underway now.

Hi guys,
I know its been a long time between drinks for an update but progress is very slow at present. I need some advice and the LSA install in regard to the Pace headers. My mechanic that is doing the install is finding that the headers are sitting hard onto the foot well wall when the engine is bolted in. Is this normal??? I assume not. The engine mounting point is as standard and we are using the LSA mounts with an LSA and also the LSA Pace headers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I haven't got any fun progress pictures as it's at a stale mate for now while we wait for the wiring loom and try and get these headers sorted.

So my mechanic just tells me the passenger side exhaust will fit no worries but the drivers side is an issue. Thoughts???

Could you bolt it to a face plate in the vice, then heat all the pipes red hot and bend it down a bit until it fits.

Can you do that? It does sound like an easy solution but probably something I would get the exhaust guy to look in to.

I have just had my Pace pipes modified so that they have adequate clearance when heat shields are fitted. On mine the drivers side is fine but the passenger side needed 2 pipes cut and rewelded to give good clearance.
Even though they are made on a jig there is some variation I guess.

No picture able as he took the headers off and reinstalled the engine so he could keep aligning the trans etc. We'll start looking into heating and bending and see how we go.
Thanks for the advice. Nice to know I'm not the only one having small issues.

Apparently one of the lugs on the trans was hard against the tunnel and not allowing the trans to line up straight. Problem solved... lug has now been cut off.
Now waiting for wiring loom from CAE for another week or two. You certainly wouldn't want a tight time frame to build one of these things. I'll just be happy when I hear it fire up for the first time.

Most people building these cars take years to complete them, I would say your doing alright Scott. All the trials and tribulations go with the process.. It is part of the joy of building a one of car..
However it would be better with more photo's please - LOL
