DVSF? next year
Hi guys...
after all of the posts about the DVSF2 that people went to this year I mentioned it to my wife. She has given me a leave pass to go to the US next year.
I certainly would like to go to the DVSF and would appreciate any details of dates, place, accomadation bookings etc...anything that would be useful to know.
I'd expect to be in the US for around 3 weeks and then would consider touring some states etc..
Thanks.

They will too Moondog, the Seppos took very good care of us Aussies. The hospitality we received over there was amazing. A great bunch of people, makes me proud to be associated with Cobras I only hope I can return it some day.
I would like to go back next year if I can arrange it. I'd like to be a bit more organised this time, it was a bit of a rushed last minute thing this year for me.
Cheers

Guys,
We'd love so see an entire contingency of Aussie's next year!
The III will take place June 20/22nd.
Last year gave "us" a huge slap in the face! A wake up call if you will. We knew it was going to be big, but we truly never grasped how big. (We've come along way from a back yard picnic!)
It didn't take us long to wake up to the fact that our Cobra family really wants something like the DVSF ! We actually started planning the III while downtown London (London, Ohio that is! ) last year. I think and hope the III will be worthy of such a great group of people!
Do a search here on the forum, we've laid out a tenative schedule for next year. We will also be updating the web site with all information in the coming months.
Keep watching the forums, we'll be posting all new information as it's confirmed!
Bring the wife and kids! We have plenty planned for them too!

Moondog - when we get a bit closer to the date, just give me the word and I can have my (travel agent) sister organise flights and accomodation. I'm expecting more than just Mike, Scott and myself to go next yeat. You have obviously read about "Craig and Scott's Excellent Adventure" this year!!! The organisation of the DVSF weekend was astounding, but the spontaneity of our drive to Ohio from Arizona with Hersh (BT SNAKE) was also a huge blast!
I'd love to be a part of the Arizona convoy next year. Who knows - depending on the number of cars travelling from Phoenix and Tucson next year, there might even be a few spare seats. You'll need to stick your head in an oven for the weeks leading up to the event just to prepare yourself for the Arizona heat though.... 52 degrees C (120+ degrees F)
I thought the DVSF2 was going to be a good holiday. I was wrong! What with the Fling, Hersh's hospitality, the AZ crew, Pavilions, the Route 66 museum, the Shelby factory, FinishLine (Shelby spec racer builders), the Indy track, 99c Big Macs, scary Mexicans in lowriders with guns, cactii, 80+mph cruising on the interstates, Las Vegas hookers (I mean.... casinos), New Mexico sunsets, and meeting hundreds of car freaks with similar interests.... It was the holiday of a lifetime!!!
You have to get to next year's Fling!

Hey Guys,
I only have one Cobra and the GT40 and they both will be going.
As stated before Craig and Scott have dibbs on the Cobra already so I can take one more in the GT. If any of the other Aussies want to come here and make the trip to Ohio then they will have drive the Durango with the trailer attached. I'll put up as many as I can here at the house even if I have to pitch tents.
If you guys are real nice to Craig and Scotty, they may switch off and allow you others to drive once in awhile..
No kidding, all of you are welcome here if you don't mind the long trip to Ohio and back. All I can say is that it's more fun than you can have with your pants on. My brother lives next door and he is a bachelor. He has two extra bedrooms and a big couch so there is no dought plenty of room.
I sur hope you come cause it really makes it more fun for me and the rest of the Arizona Cobra guys.
Hersh
PS..Dwight, I was born in Colbert County Ala. You have got to know some Byrds in that area.

DVSF III
Hello Dwight, Aussie Mike, Double Venom, 750HP & Bt Snake.
Thanks for responding to my thread. Sorry for the delay in getting back here, been away on business.
We should definitely get together an Aussie contingent to next years DVSFIII in the US. Maybe we could get an article in the next Cobra newsletter requesting indications of interest. develop a databse of interested people and closer to the day obtain deposits etc for a group booking.
This trip is sounding better all the time especially with the renowned hospitality of the Americans. Just one word of warning to the yanks... we don't want any freebies ...any offers of accomodation etc will be repaid with abundant Aussie generosity. Seriously, we want to be able to pay our own way and at least contribute to costs etc. At least lets us buy the meals and booze... .
I am sure most of us would love the idea of fanging accross the States with either BT or someone else heading to Ohio. If the offers are there?.. we'll make sure we are there.
I'm not even sure where OHIO is, pardon my bad geography.. I'll look on the map... I will also be heading down to Alabama and Georgia as I have a great personal interest in the history of the South.
Well, lets keep this discussion alive and I look forward to meeting some of the people on these threads. Keep in touch.
If anyone wants to send me an email here it is.

Man I got figure out how to get around my conflicting travel plans in June 2003 to make it to Ohio. Oh wait, I know, just BLOW OFF everything else and go to DVSF III. Yeah, that's the ticket, ha ha. Easier said than done, but I'm working on a solution!

Hey Moondog,
Now that you mentioned the booze part, I'm out of
Bundaberg ! That Craig and Scott brought a bottle over here for me. At first I didn't like it that much then I ran out of my Myers's
Rum. Sooo I started in on the Bundaberg. Now I luv the stuff !
It's really gooood sh!t ! I want more ! To hell with that Raki, I need that Bundaberg Rum.
I looked in the liquor store and they don't have it here.
So I guess I will have to be content with the Myers's Rum until you guys show up here.
Moondog, it would be a pleasure to have ya' over. There is plenty of room for you.

Bundy
BT
I think we could arrange a supply of the good ole Aussie Bundy Rum.. Did you have the normal or the overproof Bundy???
I'll make sure we bring the overproof stuff, not sure how many bottles we can take out of the country?.. but I'm sure if each of us took a few bottles it would keep you in supply until DVSFIV.
I have a thirst for that overproof Southern Comfort, we seem to only get the 37.5% stuff here. Like drinking lolly water
needs to burn on the way down... hope you have some good hot chilli food to go with it?...
cheers

Moondog - we just eased into it with the normal Bundy. After seeing Hersh get through his Myer's rum (not in spirit glasses, but McDonald's style "Super Size cups ), I think it's safe to assume that the OP will hit the spot next time!
Hot food? The Mexican border isn't too far south from Phoenix, and I'm sure we could get to some "genuine" Mexican restaurants - as long as Hersh lets me take a healthy supply of sugar. I haven't forgotten your tip Hersh!
Hersh - how about we all get over there early and turn Dan's old '50 Ford pickup into a Hot Rod!!! We'll do some shake down runs at Firebird Raceway, then cruise out to Pavilions, then I'll buy it off him and send it home in a container....
Ahhh, don't get me started on next year's trip already. I've just got over the fact that I have to be back at work, and now you're tormenting me with thoughts of holidays again!!!
Roll on June!

Craig,
That super size cup is great. Only need to make one trip to the liquor cabinet.
As far as the Hot chow goes, there is none better than what the mrs makes here. I think her mexican dishes are better than most of the restuarants here. If you want it hot then thats the way she makes it. Her tacos and burritos are reallly the best.
We will be sure to have a mexican feast for all when you get here.
Craig, I wish my brother would do something with that truck. It drives me crazy to see it just sit there. He says he wants it restored not rodded but I know he won't do it or even have it done. I'm afraid he is one of those dreamers.
Wilf, No worries mate, just stick on an aussie hat and nobody will know the difference.
Hey Moondog, did you see the July issue of National geographic?
They had a big story in the on the raising of the confederate submarine Hunley. You can also read about in on their site. What a story. I know you will like it.

BT..
I had a look at the map..from Arizona to Ohio sure looks a long trip, how many miles is it, and how long do you plan for the trip each way...it would be one hell of an adventure.
How many cars do you expect to travel the distance?...and which route (states) do you travel through?..I'll check out the site you recommended sometime soon....
750..
we'll see how BT handles the Bundy OP, I think he'll be back to shot glasses pretty soon..
cheers

Hey Hersh,
If you want Aussie booze, ask Daniel Bonyhadi, he is in the liquor store business and was downunder just a few months ago.
He's visiting Wilf Leek right now and will be back home Sept. 15.

Something makes me think that Hersh might still be going strong with his SuperSized OP Bundy long after I've called it a night!!!
Hersh - I can't imagine a better way to spend a hot Arizona night than a group of Arizona and Aussie Cobra guys/girls having a party under the stars in your backyard - the South Mountain as our backdrop, cactus and Cobras in the foreground, and some nice hot Mexican food and Corona beers!!!

Craig - I think my neighbours gave up on me a long time ago - round about the time I started vibrating their windows with V8 music.
Visits from sundry gasholes just serve to confirm the deepest suspicions.
So how many of you guys are coming to DVSF3 from Oz?

Mate - you go and take delivery of one of the new TVR Tuscan R monsters, and to hell with the Fling - I'm coming over to visit you as well!!!
If we're starting a list of Aussie travellers for next year's Fling, you may as well start off the list right here with me! Pending proof that Hersh's engine management systems are behind him, I'm sure that Scott OZVENOM will add his name to the list! I think Scott still sees that Wolf 3D computer in his nightmares!!! Heck, it might even turn into a whole family holiday. I can just see Ros, Paula and others leaving the boys to their silly car games while they go shopping Don't worry guys, as my dyno guy kept reassuring me " IT'S ONLY MONEY....."

Speaking of dyno guys - what was your final result? And did you manage to stop the flashing lights/sparks off the HT leads? Maybe I missed this on the other thread?
No plans for a TVR - every time I start thinking about saving up some money for another car/project, the fuel tank in the Cobra needs filling up again. And at UK fuel prices, it's enough to make a grown man cry ($6 US per gallon!).
