Default My nightmare Cobra drive....

I was digging through my photos tonight and came across the photos of my Cobra drive back in '98 that I'd rather forget. It started with a drive to the beach and ended with fractured front suspension components, a 40ft light pole, roadside posts, and a barbed wire fence. Here's how my car fared at the end of it all....

Thumbs down

Try not to make the same mistake twice Craig. Remember we need fibreglass too so that we can finish our cars. I dont want you hogging all the supplies for that scoop of yours!

Andy.

Default eekk!!

Craig....what a mess

That'll teach ya for not putting that gussett behind that front end mod ya did

What knots were you doing when it happened mate?...that much damage implies you were'nt goin all that quick. Once glass looses it's structural integrity..it just messes up big time.

Oi..those side pipes look exactly like mine..mine were made by..hmm...wots his name...had a truck exhaust place over rocklea. Had a RMC too.

You all take care

Les - correct, and correct! The upper A-Arm on the Jag suspension was originally mounted onto that flimsy bracket above the main chassis rail. That snapped clean off, leaving me with one seriously wobbly wheel at 50mph or so. The resulting spin put me into the light pole. Shortly after my crash, RMC sent a notice and gusset to all known RMC owners. Coincidence? I think not...

Frank @ Nelsons is a really great guy to deal with. I keep in contact with him as often as possible. Nothing's too much trouble, and he's never too busy for a chat. I don't think he was too pleased to hear what happened to his pride and joy though.... I bought the car off him in '96 I think.

Andy - the next bonnet will be carbon fibre. The car's a bit of a tank at present. Maybe time to lighten it up a bit to help the power to weight ratio

Default It's all franks fault then Craig

Craig, would you believe, the day after I collected my pipes from him was the day I had my accident that stopped my cobra build for years.

What a small world..that was a nice car when he had it....then you got it and buggered it up

You all take care

Hi all,

Shortly after I purchased the RMC from Mike Moore he phonned me to tell me about the RMC issue.

With all the hammering Mike gave the car I thought hell this will never fail.

Must chase up Adrian at Geelong who brought the car and see where he is with the car. I can recall Jason telling me he is in the Victorian Cobra Club.

Bryan and I were talking about the number of Cobras down in Geelong and we came up with about nine, I think at the time.

I did a recount and found that there are about 20 down there. With about 11 on the road.

I spoke with Gary Grant the organiser of the Geelong Speed Trials and he said there is an original AC there as well.

Will have to do a run to Geelong Jason

May fire them up to join in more

Talk soon must go and work

Cheers

Bernie
