This is a vehicle I have seen advertised for sale for awhile now.
Not sure if I am right but is the chassis number listed a genuine cobra?

That car is currently in Paradise Garage in London, I have seen it recently and is a original looking car - Guardsman blue with cream leather it is priced at £175,000 sterling. The sales guy there said its just completed the Tour Auto earlier in the year.

It says in the add that the car was delivered to Australia in 1975, is this the same car?
Also I thought (could be wrong) that all cobras had a csx vin number?

All "Shelby" Cobras DO have a CSX number. The COB number clearly says this car is NOT built by Shelby, SAI or any of his companies.

Was there someone else building cobras in 1965?
It is a very nice looking 289 model but is it a real cobra?
Does the COB vin number make it an ac ace that has been converted to 289 cobra specs?

Cobra chasis numbers
The original Cobras were built by AC in England and AC assigned the chassis numbers not Shelby.
The CSX # was for export to Shelby.
The COB # was for sale by AC in Britan and Europe.

Bryan

Bryan...
...actually the "COB" prefix was used for the cars sold in Britain, the prefix "COX" (eXport) was used for the cars sold elsewhere other than the cars for Shelbly (CSX).
Most likely that car was sold new in the UK, due to the COB number and the RHD. Had it been sold to, say Germany, it would be a COX car.
