England just beat Australia in the final of the Rugby World Cup.
We made bl--dy hard work of it though, talk about nailbiting finish.

What a game ! Beaten by the better team on the night. 20 of us were heading to the Storey Bridge Hotel, but you physically couldn't even get in the building. People everywhere....
We can always take consolation in the 3-0 Ashes effort by the league guys. What a fantastic last 5 minutes !!!
I love my footy !!!!

Rugby League
Rugby Union
Soccer
Any code where foot meets ball = football = footy.
(And the league and union guys wear only a small fraction of the protective padding that the gridiron players use... Tough guys. The soccer guys are a little more delicate with each other )

The soccer guys maybe a little bit more "delicate", but go to a premiership game and witness the atmosphere - awesome.
One of the few things I miss from the UK.
Hey who cares, let the pommes come here and beat the ozzies.
Sorry guys, but its not often we get up and beat you.

Bloody Poms
I watched the game last nite, and what a great game it was.
I have never been a huge fan of union (not knowing all the rules) but had to watch and feel the way the game was played, the 2 kickers (wilkinson & flately) must have nerves of steel.
It all just means we will have ta beat the Poms in 4 years time.

I'm sulking
Damn good game tho..must admit...those poms played a better game on the night.
I heard there is one lurking amonst us.. If we ever identify who he/she is, what do we do with em?
1. Deport em to colder southern states?
2. Convince his/her partner to with-hold privledges..like funding for nitro systems and neons?
3. Confiscate his/her Cobra and have it raised to acceptable levels?.
4. Have them host some sorta function and call it a chrissy party?.
I'll go for the last option... then I can give em hell for a little longer than 80 minutes.
Did I tell ya I'm sulking?

The Problem
The problem with you guys down under is that you do not play on frozen water.
If you had a Hockey team, you'd have some good sport!
Of course there is always cars.
You'll get them next time!!

Oi trularin, We've got some freezing places in Oz.
There is a state way down south called Victoria, has a capitol called Melbourne. So cold down there the brass monkeys wont even venture out.
Turn the radio on and you'll hear a weather report like " If you cant see ya power poles..It's raining..If you can see em..then it's going to rain.

Hey guys,
I drove across in the rain to Melbourne.
I drove to the Cobra show in the rain
I am starting to think that the white will be washed off the Gel coat. Only done about 5,000 k ( 4,000 or so miles ).
Everytime I take the car out it rains. Well....
I get sun burn on Sunday at the Cobra show and then drive home. You guessed it Bryan and I get wet again - rain.
This is summer
Cheers

Only one solution Bernie, pack ya bags and get up here.
Hell, we've even got pommies immigrating from the home land to live here and we make them feel at home.
You'd fit in well, only problem would be getting you used to all the sun-tanned nubile young ladies admiring the car.
Mind you, you would have to paint it...we do have a standard here.

Hi all,
I just started a new Thread.
Will get the car painted before I head north to Queensland. We only build quality in SA.
Getting the roof organised now and will paint after summer possibly in March after "Weekend at Bernie's #2.
Should get some Sydney siders and Queenslanders down.
Only problem they keep having events that I want to go to so I keep putting things off so that I can go - good excuse.
I was going to take the new side pipes off today and send them off to get them coated. But there is a good run to Hamilton in western Victoria this Sunday.
Show us your Toys.. that was toys!!!
Worth a visit if you want a long drive. Come down through Geelong though. Road is better. About two hours from Geelong.
Just a thought you may want a long drive - Victorian members??
Cheers

Rick, "Rugby" is actually the name of a town near to Birmingham.
Also a famous Public School, where long ago, someone playing "footy" decided to pick up the ball and run with it. Rugby Union rules evolved from there.
It is, of course, possibly also "American Football" for REAL men who don't require several feet of padding between themselves and any potential physical contact.
Before anyone accuses me of anti-aussie sentiment, let me say here and now that the Aussies played bl**dy well in the championship, we nicked it in the last seconds of extra time.
Aussie team captain was exceptionally generous in defeat - worthy opponents.
