Hey there Bernie, sadly I wont be able to c*** in at Mt Gambier as the trip home from Melbourne has to be done in 2 days.
I contacted Aussie Mike via phone and found out he is in Sydney at the moment, due back on a plane tonight.
It would be great to arrange sometime to meet and chat, maybe at Mike's place sometime over the weekend.
If ya wanna arrange something then let me know and I will give you my phone number.

Now 9am in Mt. Gambier - Friday.
I leave for Melbourne shortly and will be at McDonald Bros. Racing from 8.30am tomorrow. As I will be there for most of the day I could catch up somewhere later in the day.
I will be in the Cobra as I am finishing some internal aluminium work.
Ring McDonald Bros Racing on; 03 9 465 0000. Ray there will get the phone to me in the workshop.
Will arrange something from there. Perhaps, I could call out to Mikes later in the day to check his progress out on the Cobra - or he may suggest you both catch up at McDonald Bros Racing with me tomorrow.
They have two or three XW, XY GT's, a couple of rotary tub/chassis jobs, a few Mustangs and a couple of Street Rods.
Additionally their drag car is there. This may interest you??
Just ring there at McDonald Bros. Racing and let me know.
Talk soon
Cheers

Hi all
Garrett after you left in the rain I stayed and repaired the carby, pedal and fitted some aluminium.
The speed camera out the front left just after you did so I was safe...
Garrett you guessed it right with the weather. It stopped raining and I drove over to Mike's in hot sunshine, then home to the Geelong house and hell I got burnt.
Good to check your shed out there Mike. Perhaps some articles for Snaketales coming up. "Build it like Mike"
Loved that 'Classic Revival' also.
Think you both have a good kit there - Boxhead.
Boxhead have a safe trip back to Alice Springs. No doubt you have some great ideas after being at Mike's. I think we both kept him from working on his car there.
Cheers Guys.
Have a great Christmas and I was glad to catch up with you all.

It looks like ya musta made it home *** ok there Bernie, didnt rain on ya again did it?
I picked up the jag front end for my car last night, (saturday)
I pulled the upper and lower control arms out, removed stubs and brakes to take home.
Jusy a quick question for Mike or any other Classic revival builders, do I need to keep the lower spring plate?
I have kept the lower shockie mount but cant remember if I need to keep the lower plate.
I left my build instructions in Alice and I cant remember, I dont think I need it but thought I may aswell ask anyway.
I have tried to look at Aussie Mikes picture g***ery but I cant seem to access the pic g***ery on this pc.
Thanks for any info, David
P.S I dont know what is happening but when I type any word with a,l,l together it doesnt like it as a word and deletes it.

Hi David,
It was good to catch up with you on Saturday. I realise now that I wasn't a very good host. We spent so much time talking cars I never offered any one something to drink. Sorry I get a bit carried away some times.
You don't need the spring plates. You do need the shock mount and the sway bar pick up though. It might pay to keep the sway bar hardware if it's still on the front end as well.
While your down here there are a couple of places that have reasonably priced rubbers and other rebuild hardware. Garry at Jagayre did some excellent deals for me. He's down in Clayton. The guys at H&H prestige spares in Ringwood have been very helpful too.
Cheers

Thanks for the info Mike, I have kept the sway bar and hardware as required to mount it.
I will be sourceing most of the Pommy parts I need through my stepfathers business.
The only chance I may have to go & see Justbetter's car may be on Tuesday arvo, late.
I will phone you probably late Monday to let you know if I will have the time.
I know you said you needed to see him so maybe if you want to organise things for late Tuesday I will come along if time permits.
Did you use rubber or nolathane bushes for the front and rear joints?

Hi David,
I just got in from the shed where I've been modifying the Jag steering arms on the front hubs. I'm modifying them to put the tie rod end on the top rather than underneath. from having a good look at it and a bit of a measure it should improve the bump steer characteristics. It will also allow me to fit wider rims to the front. With 17" rims I think 7.5" wide is about the maximum the way it is. I should gain enough clearance for another inch.
I used Nolothane bushes all through the front and kept the original Ford bushes in the rear. On the rear only the inner bushes on the arms are rubber anyway. The bushes at the hub/upright are spherical bearings on the ford AU. My rear swaybar rubbers are nolathane and I plan to use Nolothan on the front sway bar.
I need to see Leeroy to take some more measurements off his wheels so I don't stuff up my order with Ozwheels. I'll call jim tomorrow and see how he's fixed for Tuesday afternoon.
Cheers

Mike, Boxhead
Back in the Mt.Gambier... Paid for shooting my mouth off about getting sunburnt on Saturday.
I spent the last 20 kilometres beeing rained on. I mean bucketed on as I drove back through that storm. I now know to drill holes to let the water out of the footwells.
Safe trip back to Alice Springs.
Will catch up.
Cheers
