Default 8 Throttle body set up for gen 3

Hi there everyone, I caught up with Aussie Mike, Bernie Knight and Justbetter today down at Mcdonald brothers.

Poor Bernie had bought the rain with him again.

It was good to meet some more people to put names to faces, Mike bought along one of his side pipes and they do look very impressive.

I went for my first ride in a Cobra today and I could not describe the sound and the feeling of the car as Gareth took me for a ride in his Superformance, and I must say I was very impressed with the car as a package as there where no rattles or squeaks and it rode very well.

Gareth and I followed Mike home so I could get some pics of his car to help with mine.

Once I get home I will scan some pics and post them in here if they came out well, pics of both Bernies car and Gareths.

Whilst at Mikes house I was saying that on another site there was an article showing a 8 TB set up for our gen 3 engines.

Anyway here is the company selling the manifolds. http://gen3perf.com/

On the way over to Mikes house we had to go under some overpasses and Gareth could'nt help but give that blown gen 3 a hand full of revs as we went past, sounded awsome.

Thanks for the link David. I reckon a pair of those manifolds would be a doddle to machine up.

Now to find some reasonably priced Webber style throttle bodies.

I was 50 meters in front of you guys and even I could hear Garrett's car. What a magnificent sound

Cheers

Mike, was it blower noise or exhaust that you could hear? (Serious question)

I would say most of it was exhaust noise. I had the sliding back window open on the F100 and it was like a roll of thunder behind me. Actually gave me quite a surprise.

Cheers

Interesting! People say that they can't even hear the exhaust on my car when they're in front or behind it. Blower noise, on the other hand, is hideously loud from any angle and from any distance...

When cars are beside me, they say the exhaust / blower noise is very loud. Moral of the story - if the police are around, keep them behind you, or let them pass. If they're sitting beside me, I'm in trouble.

Have you looked at http://www.twminduction.com/Throttle...eBody3000.html That's the 3000 series, and they also have a low profile 3002 series, where you mount the injectors into the manifold rather than the throttle body.

One of the guys at TWM was interested in doing a deal with a Motec M800 as a trade for TWM parts. If you like the look of them, I'll find his email address so you can see if you can come to a deal.

See you,
Craig

Craig W... Not less they bolt on a FORD

Used to be a Sydney company, DC&O used to make 8 throttle bodies setups for fords.....dunno if they are still messing with Cobras and GT40's or just sticking to manifolds etc.

Mind you...I think the 8 throttle bodies are a bit of an overkill for the street....very cool though

Default Just for the looks.

I dont know about the other guys looking at the 8 TB set up but my personal reason for wanting them is simply for the way they look, as long as it doesnt slow the car down I will be happy.

Totally agree Boxhead...nothing looks better.

I'm told the only problem with them is balancing the units at idle or just off idle.....seems getting the opening of the butterflys at those low revs is bit of an art.

For high RPM..nothing beats em in my book.....and...as you say..cant beat the looks.

My thoughts are a 4 barrel throttle body with injectors in the runners of a victor junior....looks like a carby setup but with the advantages of fuel injection.

Thats after I get the thing goin.

Yep I will probably get mine going and registered before pulling it apart to fit a different manifold setup.

Cool

Hey Boxhead

We missed out on a coffee at Aussie Mikes..

But he has made up by placing my pictures on for me. At last I have photos on the profile camera.

We'll get a coffee next time..

And today was just sensational and I went for a drive and left the car out in the sun to dry the seats off.

I dont believe ya, Are you trying to tell me you had the Cobra out and it didnt rain?

I thought the answer to fix the drought stricken areas was to invite you and your car for a weekend visit.

Yeah we missed the coffee but saw alot of great things in his shed.

I spoke with Mike about 1 hour ago and I will be going over to his house tomorrow (christmas day) as he asked me if I could use his alternator bracket as he will have to mount his elswhere because his chassis hasnt been notched for alternator clearance.

I took my parts down to Lethbridge (between Geelong and B***arat) today for delivery to Alice Springs.

Sadley I didnt make it over to Leeroy's to see him and his car, I simply ran out of time.

Good luck to everyone out there, have a great Christmas and an even better New year with plenty of driveing hours behind the wheel.

I am now looking forward to the Cobra nationals so I can catch up with everyone again, see ya *** there.
