'hey,littlecobra'
Its great to be out driving when the sun is up. Tell me how you get them to wash the car for you?
Whats the colour used there on 'hey, little Cobra'..
Looking at your photos it apppears to change somewhat from the garage photos to the outside photos.
Cheers
Bernie

Oooopppsss
Just looking around. No harm in encouraging Mrs.Reptyl..
She may just have some money in the biscuit jar on the mantle there.
Did any of the photos that Todd took at the All Ford Day or the Picnic at Hanging Rock look OK. I know he spent a lot of time photographing Mustangs.
Now its Mini Cooper 'S'ss
Cheers

Bern'..Photos were great. you'll see them in next months Snaketales.
We will be working on getting a new garage built next year so we will have heaps more room for another project (not sure about the funds though).
Judy didn't help too much with the hands on building of the Cobra, but with out her support and funds, the dream would not have become a reality.
Can't say that the Hotrod scene gets me to excited, but I'd love to be able to get a family project car of some sort happening down the track. I think it would be cool if Judy and Porsha could help out in the garage.
Now look at what you have made me do Bernie...
completely off the thread subject.
It's great to see such a great response to this subject (it's also good to see so many ladies jumping on the forum)
Judy's always been very competitive and a petrol head from way back.
I will never forget the day Judy went to Heathcote on her own with the Cobra boys (I had to work a 12hr day shift).
She dropped in at work on the way back home. I came out to the car park to inspect for damage (only joking). When I lifted the jacket from the front seat a huge trophy came in to view (it stood about 50 centimeters in height. I was so proud I had a tear in my eye (any guys reading this... it must of been a bit of dust)
Anyway.....Judy can drive.
and she can drive our Cobra anytime she likes (and does).

Jason,
A tear in my eye also.
Look forward to Snaketales - no Mini Cooper 'S' photos though.
Don't work to hard. Judy is possibly out driving the Cobra.
Or plannnnnning that shed location. Great to have a wife who loves cars. Anne is really keen if the sun is out also. Must get that top/roof organised.
Cheers

car wash
well, bernie, the girls think it's great fun to wash mom's new car!
I'm sure the "new" will wear off, but we've only had it 2 weeks, so it's still fun.... Now the boys don't want to wash it, they want to drive it... Got to watch out for them...
The color is Guardsman Blue. Outside in the glorious Texas sky it looks awesome!! The photos in the garage were at night, with 4 long tubes of fluorescent lighting it up. Kind of puts a darker glow on the car. Fluorescent doesn't do anything or anyone justice. Makes people look grey, and cars look duller.
Maybe next year i can get my husband to head down to your neck of the woods to enjoy "weekend at Bernies"...
more pics to post, soon!
hey, Gary, I think the reference to "one for Sat., one for Sun., " was to the photo of us 3 in Austin. Interesting, to say the least....

Hi Kristen
Good to see you over on this site.
At last year Run N Gun I was made an honourary club associate of the Texas Cobra Club.
I have the big patch and all. Would love to see you over here. Just let us know when. As an honorary member Jay told me I had to buy the beer??
My Cobra is in white Gel coat at the moment and it goes into the paint shop in April for Guardsman Blue with white stripes and a lemon yellow over guard. Hence the interest in the colour.
Good to see you are also enjoying the Cobra.
Thanks for the information on your Cobra.
Cheers
Bernie

My wife is as keen for us to get a car, when the time is right, as I am. She's been used to having results happen when the loud pedal is stood upon, so I think it'd be interesting to see her reaction to driving one of these.
I'm 5'10 and she's 5'0. We were talking with the Backdraft dealer and I said we'd get the car with the seat back far enough so she couldn't reach the pedals. She said we'd get it with the seat close enough for her to reach even if it meant that my ....... ya'll can finished that bit. He just about choked on lunch laughing so hard. It'll be coming with a slider seat, and a second rollbar.
She's worried about a stick shift but having driven 1 this last weekend I don't think it'll be a problem. The clutch was a lot lighter than I was expecting.

Hi Mrs Reptyl,
As you know I am very interested in driving the Cobra, especially now that Chris has his GT40 to run around in. I compete in many events with the boys, and until they all got really serious {not wanting to be beaten by a woman}, I did quite well in the Sprints. Now they have overtaken me.
I really love circuit racing and not so keen on the drags. There are very few women in Qld interested in competing, but they do love going out in them. I also really like being part of the "team" when we go racing and the cameraderie is great.
I have found another like-minded female rev-head to play with. She has her own car:- no having to ask the Mr if she can have a drive!!!
I also like getting down and dirty on the aotocross circuit, but wiping out the bottom of the radiator bracket put an end to doing it in the Cobra, so I now have a little Datsun 1200 to bash around in as well.
In case you haven't guessed who this is, I shared a trophy at the Cobra nationals with you one year.

Well hello Mrs Flatchat (Eve),
I picked who it was in the first sentence. Great to hear from you. For everyone else out there I don't hold a candle Eve Living legend in Oz. I tell you there wouldn't be many men out there, that if you were driving their car Eve, that would do any better.
Since Porsha came along I really only get to compete at the Nationals.
I would love to get out there in something other than the Cobra, like you are doing in the Datsun, so I wouldn't have to worry about damaging anything. Oh well it might happen when the kids grow up. Can't expect to improve if we don't get out there.

I love to drive our cobra! I have been driving it more and more.
Charles just had a birthday, he needed seats for the new Shell Valley that he is building, so I ordered two custom seats from Butler, they are beautiful, Charles is upset they dont fit him- I told him I have no complaints, they fit me like they were made for me!!!

My wife can drive ours and has on occasion, but prefers to be a passenger.
Petek, our daughter will be the one too that I have to watch out for. The other day my wife went to get groceries and took Emily with her. I went for a drive and when they got back Emily gets out, puts her hands on her hips and says "Where's car?" (She is only 2yrs old). My wife says "Daddy took it for a drive" to which Emily's response with a heavily furrowed brow was "Where did daddy go with car? Daddy, oh no". Evidently I am not allowed to go for a drive without her.

"Lone star" it is Kristen.
"Quick Chick Racing" - sorry my daughter has the decal on her little Ford. Compliments of you Leslie from the 'Run N Gun'.
Never know she may get quicker in her little Ford.
She's the only one with a speeding ticket in the little red van.
Cheers

Hi again Mrs Reptyl,
Yes it is indeed Yve. I'm writing from sunny Qld and the weather is still really great for driving. In summer it is too hot and I drive around with hat, gloves and long-sleeved shirt, and I'm not even going to church!!
Last week I drove the Cobra to the hairdressers for the usual touch-up [hair that is ] . I really am blonde you know. He watched me get out of the car and said I looked like a real tomboy.
There was no need for the blow-dry as I had another one as I drove along.
For any other females contemplating spending a lot of time in their Cobras, I suggest short hair. Even under a cap long strands escape and whip your eye-balls. And lots of sunscreen on the exposed bits, as you don't want to look like you could be your spouses mother.
TIPS FOR TRAVELLING LIGHT.
With a weekend away coming up this Saturday, it is important you don't take too many clothes. Firstly, there is the outfit to wear en route. Layers are recommended, as you can peel off the layers as it warms up. This is especially true when it is freezing cold in the early morning and gets hotter as you drive along.
Then there is the party outfit for the evening. This year it is Country and Western theme. Just call me "Dolly". Need room for boots and hat and costume----YEEHAA !! We are going to learn to line dance and bootscoot. I can hardly wait. But when I've had a few drinkies I can do anything!
But not too many drinks, cos on Sunday it's out to the racetrack with all them fellas. For this, we need racesuit, helmet, gloves and shoes. All this has to fit in the Cobra. But there is also Mr Flatchat
wanting to do the same things. Just as well he is taking his other car, the GT40, otherwise we would never fit all those things in for two people.[And you think there isn't much room in the Cobra boot--- the GT40 doesn't have one]
More insights into the life of a Cobra nut soon, Mrs Flatchat.

My wife supported the purchase even though she had never even seen one. Once I got home with mine, I think she was really taken with it. She enjoys the car, the time together, the whole experience. I know guys whose wives won't even ride in the car with them and it is indeed sad.
As for driving. She drives it on occasion. A while back she ripped open the oil pan on a man hole cover and has driven it a LOT less since. She has no high performance driving experience and the car intimidates her (as it should given the lack of experience, I know it did me!). Plus I think she is just plain nervious about damaging it. With time I am sure that I can get her behind the wheel a little more, she needs the experience.
I took me two seasons to get her to ride along with me when I raced SoloII. I could tell on the first run that she was very nervious. But she hung in there and took another run or two with me. I think once she got over the initial shock she enjoyed it more. She did later tell me that she was frightened. As much as I would love to see her more involved in the car I know she has no interest in the mechanicals and I am concerned for anyone driving a vehicle that intimidates them as much as driving the Cobra seems to do to my wife. She loves to cruise and take nice country drives in it. But, as soon as I start pushing on it she gets nervious. This may not be a good combination behind the wheel. But if she really wants to drive more, we will get her the training and experience she needs to be a more comfortable, safe Cobra driver.
Now to my Daughter. I have a son and a daughter. My nine year old boy, while it thinks it is cool, isn't overly excited about the car. My daughter is a different story. She loves to go racing with me. The first time I spun the car, the first words out of her mouth after we came to a stop was "That was fun Daddy! Let's do it again". I knew she was hooked. There are four run groups and every time I looked she had hemet in hand bumming a ride from every one that would give her one. When it is our turn, she doesn't even leave the seat. Just last night I ran her to play practice and she made sure that we arrived when every one was still standing out side. Two years and seven months until this one gets a learners permit!

I'm the same as you Rick,
My wife prefers to be the passenger.
She has driven it, but found the brakes too responsive (I think that is a good thing). This is from a girl who's driven Formula Fords!
However, she is keen to be driving a lesser powered roadster and as such is dropping big hints that we should get an MGBGT Roadster to park next to the Cobra in the garage.
Quite keen myself to have another "no top" (and they are relatively cheap to buy here).
Now the kids, that's another thing - "faster dad, smoke em, burnout, take him" are all commonly used phrases when any of the boys are in (3 of them).
My daughter is a little more cautious often saying "settle down" if we speed out of her comfort zone.
One thing all the family have in common - they love the Cobra!

Hey Rick spend $10 at DVSF and organise a ride in the little green Cobra that took off after doing two 360's in the main street..
Weendoggy just sent me a copy of the DVD. Whoaa you guys sure have fun there in Ohio,
Cannot make it this year.
Pressure from work and the sniper thing made it an easy decision this year to stay home.
Anyway have fun at DVSF and let her take a few rides or take a few people for $10 rides.
Drag racing in the main street - hell I love the concept.
PCC
Pete,
Anne loves driving in the Cobra, but prefers shorter distances as she finds the ride a little hard.
Will need to re trim the seats after paint so will put some extra foam in them. She has tried driving it but finds I have the seating to low. I look through the centre of the screen and she cannot see over the steering wheel.
Now the kids here thats another story.
Cruised today in 22c sunshine.
Cheers
Bernie

I'm not gonna comment just gonna sit here and make notes
Lets see..so far we have:
Install low seats.
Keep all seat padding thin.
Make sure brakes are responsive.
Install heavy clutch.
stiffen the springs to competition standard.
Hide all hats, gloves and long sleeve outfits.
Tell her she looks better with long hair.
Invest in a Datsun 1200.
And the best idea to date... "Layers are recommended, as you can peel off the layers as it warms up."
and...
Being the considerate fella that I am .. I'll apply the sunscreen on her exposed bits after the layers come off.
Keep the ideas coming ladies...I need all the help I can get
Only kiddin ... ouch!!
Cheers

Bernie,
Last year was my second Fling and I can't wait for #3! The first year my daughter goes off to see the action in London and the next thing I know she is back after talking her Grandfather into paying for a ride with Wayne Presley in his 40! She rubbed it in big time. Makes a father proud, and a bit nervious! As for the 360's, she can have those any time she likes!
Sorry you will not make it this year. Next year if you need a place to hold up just let me know.

Rebel1,
Obviously you are looking for lots of reasons for keeping your wife OUT of the Cobra. I can only say that it is much much easier to have her on YOUR side when it comes to the purse-strings.
What happens when you might want to spend some more of the JOINT bank account on some new gadgets for the motor to make it go faster or win that Show 'n' Shine?
Enough said on that subject.
Now, here's a good idea to get your partner INTO the Cobra. Take an attractive female out for a spin in HER seat!!!!!!!
