Default Qld Cobras at the drags

This might be a good chance to give my car a run at the drags without the ANDRA tech inspectors being there to boot me off for safety infringements. Anybody else keen to have a go?

As discussed, the MTA-Q is hosting our annual Cannonball Day at Willowbank Raceway on Sunday the 30th of May 2004. We hire the track to enable our members to participate in a not too serious drag racing event at
minimal cost. We rely on sponsors to provide prizes for a limited number of classes. Costs are $2 per person admission or $5 per car. To race it will cost $30 or $15 to enter the Show and Shine. Bear in mind that Sunday the 30th of May is also the Muscle Car Shootout at Queensland Raceway.
Hope to see you and other Cobra Car Club members there on Sunday the 30th.

Kind regards,

Adrian Cross

Should I bring along a set of stabilisers for that flying machine of your's?

Craig, has anyone told you that you hold onto the steering wheel to keep it in a straight line

Thumbs up

Hmmm,

I might dust off the Honda for a blast if it would be eligible for entry?

Guys, hope to see you both there. The last MTAQ day I went to was a while ago, but they accepted ANY car that drove through the gates. You'll see all sorts of cars up there, from first year apprentice's smoky 18 second Camiras up to full-on drag cars, so I think it's safe to say that they'd be more than happy to see the only twin turbo NSX in Queensland !

I stopped in at a servo today and the mechanic came running out with a flyer about the event. It'll be well organised, but small enough that you'll be able to have as many runs as you like. Last year, I think guys were having up to 15 runs throughout the day.

Now, where do I buy a set of drag radials around here???

Pete - I think it'll be the driver, not the car that'll need stabilising up there...

.... one week to go. It should be a lot of fun ! I was almost excited enough to change the spark plugs today, but here I am again on the computer. Scott, any chance of getting the car to you for a look-over on the hoist this week. Maybe bleed the front brakes, grease up the front suspension (a-arm squeaking?)..... and change the plugs

Talking dragin the pipes

I am looking forward to sundays drags it just that craig has put me off using my new slicks 10 x 28 goodyears.
He said it would end up draging the back car on the ground as it wheel stands off the line . dont think so .
i think the clutch would give up before that.
Any way i dont have any front runners yet so its going on street tyres . .
I also got a cheap digital video camera 1 that uses a flash card so we should be able to put some footage on line.

Question

Craig,

what does that flyer of yours say about the event start times? I called the track and checked the website. This event is not listed.

Thanks

Cameron - it seems as though everyone is planning on getting there by about 9 o'clock. It's definitely on - I know the regular track announcer is going to be there as well as ambos, fire truck etc. As long as the ANDRA guys aren't there.....

I'm planning on getting a few runs in, then heading over to QR for a look. It looks like QR will be PACKED with a huge number of muscle cars. From all reports, it'll be the biggest muscle car shootout ever held up there !

Smile

Craig,

thanks for the invite to the drags. It was great to get the car out of the garage, and after I cured all the driver issues (mostly related to memory loss and encroaching age), I even posted some decent times.

Nothing however compared to your road registered space shuttle

Also good to meet a few other board members.
