Default Intercoolers on ebay

Hey you forced induction dudes (Scott and Craig),

I've been having a browse on ebay lately for blower stuff and there are a lot of reasonably priced custom intercoolers around.

Here's a few of them:

Intercooler 1
Intercooler 2
Intercooler 3

the dimensions are about right to go across the front of the radiator in the Cobra. I've got this idea in my head that it might be good to make the mounts on the chassis and provisions for the plumbing for one while the body is off.

So are they any good or are they just cheap crap?

Cheers

Mike,

Be wary of the one's outside Australia (Hong Kong).

Past experience on E-Bay does tells me that such dealers are not all that they are cracked up to be.

I tend to stick with Australia / USA / UK / Europe as to date I have never been let down.

Simply a word of caution

Red face Focus

Ok mike got to step in here again...

Obviously someone or something been happening to get you off your track in gettting your rocket to the Nationals, i've mentioned before that full foucs is required, none of this day dreaming because you have the tools and know how to add little goodies.

Now think calm, think cool, and say again to your self, i must focus, i must finish my car for the nationals.

AND STOP READING MAGAZINES THAT ADD BITS TO YOUR CAR.

By the way... Is that you in the latest edition of Street Machine, a person trying to hide behind a video camera at the LS1 Drag Nats ???

Just thinking out loud here. I probably won't do it as I'm a bit of a dreamer most of the time.

I've been getting a bit done on the car lately. I pretty much finished my rear end mods on the week end and. All I have to do is repaint it all and I'll do that after I've finished the fuel tank mounting.

I made a neat looking swirl pot fuel pump that uses the Gen3 Commodore pump and regulator assembly thad Boxhead gave me. I'm quite proud of it and I'll have to put some pics up once I've finished the mounting brackets. I just have to decide exactly where to mount it as I've got 3 or 4 good places in mind.

Cheers

If you are thinking of Intercoolers. There is a mob in Melbourne - AVO - down in Cheltenham. They custom make intercoolers, and also have facilities in Hong Kong and Japan.

Not to mention a 4WD Dyno and lot's of other goodies... If you visit, leave your wallet at home

I had some made about 10 years ago.... still going strong!!

Here's a link AVO

Mike - I've heard some good things about the Hybrid intercoolers. The guy that made mine was saying that they've seen tests of a few different bar and plate cores to see which cores lost pressure over a period of time. Apparently, after something like 30 seconds, while the Hybrid cores were still holding 30psi, genuine Garrett cores had lost around 4psi through tiny pinholes / manufacturing flaws !!!

I know that Mark at Western Suburbs (my guy) said they were really good value for money - much cheaper than Garrett cores. The only limitatoin at the time was the fact that they didn't have many end tank shapes or tube sizing options at the time.

enquiries@westernsuburbsradiatorservice.com.au

If you send them an email with an questions, make sure the email is addressed to Mark in the subject line . I haven't spoken to him for ages, so I hope he's still there. He was the brains behind the fabrication side of the business.

GO THE BOOST...... THE DARK SIDE JUST GOT DARKER !!!!!!!
