Default Number plate

Whats the go if you want individual number plates? Can you go down to VicRoads (Melb.) and get them to run thru your preferred numbers until one comes up that not used or do you have to mail some kind of form in and hope for the best. Can you get the plates before you have a car to reg.
Thanks for any help. Leeroy

Leeroy

I have 888866 this plate was on my Mustang and I transferred it easily across to the Cobra. Think the charge was $80 to do this.

The Registration office saw the 888866 as a vanity plate which is the same price as the word plates such as EVLCOB. They were about $290 when I got mine.

All plate 'words' must be approved by the registration office and you just go in as you suggested with a long list and the 'helpful' staff will check each one out.

You can reserve the plate and have it held at the registration office. Once you have the plate in your hands and on a car, you keep it and ring them when you want to activate the plate and put it on another car.

Make sense?

I would go to a local registration office rather than the central one. You will find there is less of a line and the staff are a little 'more' helpful.

A few of us are over at Doug's this Saturday. Its an easier trip on the weekend, may see you.

Cheers

Bernie

Leeroy,

Up here, we are able to check online if a combination is available through PPQ (Personal Plates Queensland).

Do you not have that facility down there?

Hi Leigh,

Refer to this thread. It has some VIC specific details including cost & phone numbers. I has my missus ring up VIC Roads. If they are busy they limit you to three look ups per call otherwise you just keep trying.

Custom Plates
Good luck,
Adrian.

Hey guys

The 'on line' thing sounds the better way. Must say I did like the friendly girl at Hamilton. I did promise her a ride too. Must get back there.

I know the Hamilton office has a computer at the side of the counter where you can play to your hearts content checking.

FASTMF? FNFAST? FORFUN? HWYMAN? HWYKID? XRACER? where a few that I had on my list and were available.

I know there is a 'Thread' on the 'All Cobra Talk' site that has plates on it. May be worth checking over there for some ideas.

Although LEEROY??

Perhaps we should start a "Thread" here for plate ideas. I'll do that.

Cheers

Bernie

Bernie whats the address of Doug's and what time are you thinking of being there. Like to met yourself and see Doug's workshop.
Cheers Leeroy.

Exclamation Doug's factory - easy to find

Leeroy

Just cannot think of the actual number, but its Beresford Road Lilydale off Victoria.

The factory is in the blue group of factories on the left ( the only ones) about 200m past the roundabout. You will see his sign when you enter the factory court - midway along on the right.

I will be there from about 10.a.m.

I started the Number plate/Vanity plate 'Thread' on the Aussie forum as I suggested. Perhaps you will get an idea there.

Sorry REPTYL is gone and I think COBRA would be gone also

Is LEEROY available?

May see you Saturday.

Cheers

Bernie

Leeroy,

Just call Vicroads with your list of preferences and see what's available. You can buy the plates outright. You don't need a car or rego to buy them. Different types of plates cost different amounts but my type were about $330 11/2 yrs ago. Up to 6 characters is allowed.

Check out the vicroads web site (www.vicroads.vic.gov.au)
to check out the difference playes that are available.

Cheers

No worries there, we will catch up as I will possibly be over next week again.

Doug looks like he will get the car into the paint booth.

Cheers
