Talking throttle body noise

The dreaded partial throttle open whistle has recently come to my attention Ive lived with it for a while but now its just getting a bit much. the only way of stopping it has been to drive the car flat out every where no noise but not that safe. there was rumours of grinding bits out of the throttle body to lessen the noise any ideas???????

Hi Jas,

I had the same problem with a 70 mm throttle body. It used to whistle at idle or just above idle. Chris gave me the fix, throw it over your left shoulder, or in the swap meet box and buy a new one. The BBK - Holley are the worst, but a Accufab.

Angry My parents always told me to keep the noise down - I thought old f#!*#

Now Jason

Two 'Threads' about noise annoying you?

Just purchased an Apple IPod and cannot hear a thing anymore.

10,000 tracks at level 7 -

Cannot hear the kids or the wife -

May be cheaper than a new Throttle body and Gilmer Drive belt?

Cheers

Bernie

Don't worry about quieting the throttle body.
Just make the exhaust louder

Just replaced the stereo with a "modern" unit.

First run out and I thought one of the exhausts had dropped off as the bass vibrated its way through the seats.

No more rattles to report - can't hear them

Might be worthwhile porting your throttle body. I did an article for snake tales last year on how to port your own. The whistle could be caused by sharp edges in the air flow. If it doesn't quiet it down at least it'll make it flow more.

There's a few pics of mine undergoing the treatment in my gallery.

Cheers
