Got mine from Performance Metalcraft in Sydney. Leon does real nice work. Its a two row unit , fins are about 25mm deep. Works real well , fan rarely comes on.

About $1000.00 I think. I try not to remember the prices so I can kid myself the Cobra didn't cost THAT much.

Norm at Aussie Desert Cooler did mine. Fantastic work and only cost me $690. It's the same style as Phils with two rows of 1" wide tubes.

You can contact Norm on 03 9470 4449

Cheers

Thanks Phil,

I know what you mean. I find it easier if I take the extra zero off the price of things. It makes you feel better.

Gearbox rebuild for $215 - sounds cheap

Preferably need a supplier in QLD, but if not forthcoming will obviously look elsewhere.

The existing unit has a minor leak (approx 1 pint per week). May use some stop leak to temporarily hold it for a while.

Don't want to rsisk overheating as that's my only gauge that doesn't work (fairlane engine / xr8 cluster - electrical issue).

Radiator for x-mas - now that sounds exciting

Peter - for a compromise of price and quality, I'd look at AFCO brand. Boettcher always has cheap AFCO and Wilwood parts. Their shop is only a few blocks from my place, so I can take some photos or pick up anything you might want. $340 for an alloy radiator is pretty hard to beat. This is the same brand that Scott and Craig/John White are using. Specs in the photo....

www.iboettcher.com.au/racing.html

About your electrical problem - I might be wrong, but if Ford use Bosch Temp sensors, you can replace them for around $20.

Thanks Craig - will pursue with you on the next Cobra spend day!

The problem with my gauge is that the motor is an NC Fairlaine Windsor and the cluster is an AUI XR8 chaser type.

This presents problems giving a readout on the gauge due the electrical incompatibilities between the engine and cluster.

Option 1: Spend $300 with EMF letting them fix it;

Option 2: Buy a separate temp gauge; or

Option 3: Find an alternative option.

Thanks again mate.

Paul Weel Racing is based in Queensland and does a nice looking job on their aluminium radiators. Not sure of a phone no.

Andy.

Craig

That "Dirt Modified Radiator" at $340 seems very reasonable. With all the circle work and off road work I do in the Cobra sounds ideal...

ac andy

May see you a Doug's this Saturday, bring the Finishline exhaust/side pipes over..??

Pete..this might help ... Mind you...they are on the Northside.

http://www.are.com.au/index.htm

There is even a pic of a radiator built for Keith Fracknell @ the Cobra Shop. Keith is a DRB agent so that radiator is for a DRB I'd guess.

Hope this helps
Cheers

Les,

Thanks for posting ARE radiator site. Real good info in there. Any one considering using a radiator in their car should read it.

Thanks again,

Phil

Peter - prepare for a shock ! ARE make arguably the best show quality radiators and intercoolers in the country. The quality of welding is superb, they can polich the custom tanks to a mirror finish. Richard only uses the best cores, and has many years of research behind him. Many show cars use ARE products. They're now making curved radiators and oil coolers - motorbike style - fur custom installations !!!

Only one problem........
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you're after ARE quality for a little less money (but still way above AFCO), I'd recommend Western Suburbs Radiators as long as Mark is still working there. Western Suburbs did my radiator and intercooler, both with custom tanks. Mark even came to my place to measure everything up. He's a Ford and Cobra fan from way back, and was very easy to deal with. Here's a bit of an idea of his welding on my radiator and intercooler..

Thanks Craig.....

I had an inkling that when reviewing the Web Site, price was secondary

Worth getting an approximate quote, but am expecting it to be towards the $1,500 to $2,000 mark.

Trust Les to come up with one of his dream sites. No Les, I don't want to know what else you dream about!!

Your welding work looks very tidy and that may be worthwhile pursuing.

Still would'nt mind the "Show quality" radiator and oil cooler though.

Its there to spend

Here's a pic of the Aussie Desert Cooler aluminium radiator. I'm very happy with the quality of workmanship. the price was very reasonable too.

Norm set this one up double pass for me. That means there is a divider inside the right hand tank that forces the coolant to flow across the radiator up the left tank and then back across again. I wanted the iinlet and outlet both on the right side as it made my plumbing much tidier.

The thermo fan brackets are home made.

Cheers

Hey, if you really know what you need, I'd call Griffin and ask them to quote making one for you.

I spent $450.00 US on mine and am very happy with it.

Dang, forgot about that. Sorry.

Why are ya lookin to change? Weight or temps?

I mean if it is temps, try side coolers. Little radiators that you plumb into your heater hose line and run in the fenders. I may be able to hook you up with a couple of cores if that's what you lookin for.

If it is weight, aluminum is the way to go.

My $0.03 worth (I'm uppin the antee )
