G'day All

I've updated my gallery. I've posted pics showing my d/s door nearing completion. I've extended the leading and lower edge of this door as the panel gap was too big. In some places it was 13mm! It's now down to 1-5mm (the leading edge gap is 5mm - it looks huge compared to the rest of the door) Next step is to have a consistant 5mm gap all round and then it's time to bond the inner skin onto the door.

I've also completed swinging the boot using external Healy hinges. It's an easier job than internal hinges but I like the look as well as the fact that the boot can be opened past the verticle for easy access.

Cheers

Al....looking good mate.

That is the perfect place to use my little hint of useing a flat rubber strip. Remember to use packing tape on the glass side tho and fit it so its a bit high to create a damn..

Fitting the rubber so that its above the glass surface also gives it a drip edge and prevents resin runs onto the car.

Use contact to glue the rubber all round the door jamb and glass up to the rubber dam.

On very wide gaps you might have to damn the back of the gap with something ( I used thicker foam rubber) to prevent the resin running out the back.

End result...nice neat 3mm gap.

Hi Al,

I looked at your car in the gallery and take my hat of to you. I dont think I would have started building my kit had I needed to assemble doors, bonnet, boot, etc. then hang them onto the body.
Great work!

Regards.

Looking good Al,

Really starting to make some progress there. Looks like the Nationals fired you up too.

Cheers
