Default Side pipes

I'm looking at building side pipes and need a bit of information.

1/ What size is the tube used for the four inlet pipes.
2/ What size tube is the actual side pipe.
3/ What size is the outlet bend.
4/ where can I obtain the round cats to fit inside the pipe.
5/ What is the best internal muffler to use.

Phil,

I went with 1 3/4" primaries into 2" bends through body into 3.5" collector into 21/2" perforated tube into 3 1/2" tip.

Outside pipe 4"

Cats available from difillipo vic)or Walkers (NSW)

Wrap perforated pipe in muffler packing.

Engine flange, primaries , bends collector , perf pipe , outside pipe and muffler packing from difillipo. Just tell him its for a Cobra.

Get it all HPC coated at Leongatha (Vic) $750 and you will be happy.

Check out Mike Murphy's gallery for construction details. I followed this and am very happy with note. Not deafening , nice note when you want it, quite when cruising.

Phil.

Phil,

try smb.net.au (Walkers) they have full range of SS mandrel bends plus pricing. I think they would also make up what you want for a price. I believe you get a totally different sound with SS. Others may be able to advise if its better than MS or not.

The HPC coated MS will also run cooler than SS. You only get 2nd degree burns instead of 3rd.

Phil

You need to do a search on the forum for side pipes. There are several of us working on some custom ones right now - tons of options. Mine will be 2 inch primaries into 4 inh collectors with 4 inch baloney cut pipes. I am using the spiral baffles and making them removal. Just one option. I will be posting pics as build goes. I am hopeing to have collectors done this week.
