Classic Revival rear suspension
I've been sorting out the rear suspension for my chariot and have just started to think about the coil overs.
I phoned TSR suspension in QLD and got a price of about $300 each corner. Has anyone sourced another type of coil over and from who?
The rear brackets have been no trouble I found a bit of 75mm box section with 5mm wall and it has just the right ID to stradle the oridgonal mount.
Any thoughts would be great.

Hi Gav
Most of us are running AVO coil overs in either 15" or 16" open lengths. The AVOs have a damping adjustment with about 20 increments and they also have spherical bearings on the ends rather than rubber bushes. They are available through Austrack motorsport in Sydney.
There are a few pics of my rear coil over mounts in my gallery. Make sure you build your mount so it wont twist around.

Hey there Gav, I have used spax shockies but sadly they have rubber mounts (would prefer spherical bearings)
If you are looking to fit wide rubber on the back then make your lower mounts similar to mine or Mikes to allow the lower shockie mount to be moved further inboard.
When my car is done I will look at different shockies if I am not happy.

Thanks for your reply guys.
I have posted a photo of one of my mounts they came up OK but I realy need to get rid of the flux cored wire in my mig as it produces heaps of spatter, and doesn't look as good.
What kind of money did your shocks cost you two?

Your mount looks strong enough but you need to add a plate to it to stop it rotating. The shock puts a diagonal load on the mount and will push it around the mounting bolt that runs through the rubber bush.
Here's a couple of pics of mine. I made mine from heavy walled tubes and they are snug fit over the falcon shock mount.
This pic shows the tab at the bottom that stops the mount rotating outwrads. It's firm up against the suspesion arm.
Tis next show the tab on the inside which stops the mount rotating inwards.
I modified these later to move the moutns for the coil overs inwards. This gave me a bit more clearance for the11" wide rims.
As for welding spatter, buy yourself a can of anti spatter spray. It puts a waxy coating on the parts you are about to weld and the spatter doesn't stick. It's also good for spraying in the tip of your torch to control the spatter buildup in there.

My rear shockie mounts
Hey there gav, as I said earlier I made my mounts to allow the shockie to be further inboard.
I also think that due to leverage angles I will have to purcahes stiffer rear springs (I have 500lb in rear)
Here are some pics of my mounts, I have made them out of flat plate and welded together.
In these first 2 pics you can see how the top plate rests on top of the lower arm.
In this pic you can see the flat plate comes down over the front to prevent it from moveing.
I have since dressed the welds and painted the mounts.
My springs and shockies cost me $1400.00 for all 4 with everything you see in the pic, includeing an adjusting spanner.

I have only just realised what you meant by the mount rotating.
I'll blank the rear and front and I should be close.
On another matter all together I have eventually got a couple of picks from the drags in my gallery, check em out!!
