I understand about resale value of existing kitcars being
better than one-off custom cars, But my problem is I
don't have the cash to buy a brand name chassis.
My only way to achieve a Cobra is to build it myself.
I have recently built a custom Lotus 7 type car including
fabricating a custom chassis. I am fully
aware of the WA kitcar rules for rego. It is a vicious circle.
So to my next question-
Anyone want to measure up their chassis and send it to me

Ermmmmm, who me?
Ahmmmm, yeah, well, I guess it's not a G-Force either.
Dave, Craig (750hp) is spot on. It'll cost more to fabricate your own chassis and have it tested and approved.
I have the idea that your a practical sort of fella. So another idea to Craigs is to approach both RMC and G-Force and see if they'll sell you a chassis and an inner tub as opposed to a complete chassis/body kit.
The RMC has a fiberglass inner tub which you would have to glass into your body (if it fits ) and they may even sell you any other panels you may want. ie inner guards etc.
RMC are also more into Westfields now and may have some cobra bits and pieces laying around.
I feel it would be easier to make mods to the body than to fabricate a whole new chassis.
Just a wild thought.

I hear what you guys are saying and it is true.
Making the chassis isn't to stressfull. I also have access to
torsion testing equipement. My engineer who will approve the
car also uses FEA to test the chassis aswell. We jumped threw
hopes together with the 7 build.
I was hoping someone would spring out of the wood work and
give this body a name.

Wicked boy Craig, imagine a Cobra named Beryl. Mines called Sam. Who else has named their Cobra?
Dave, You want a name, I'll put money on an Auto Styling body.
If you go to http://www.cobracarclub.org.au/main.htm then select "owners directory" then "Australian cars" scroll down about half way to find Rob Keene. He list his as an Autostyle body and has a photo attatched. You'll see similarities in the hood scoop wider and set further back than RMC etc, small front flare, and no raised moulding for the front indicators. Also check if yours has narrowish rear gaurds as Rob's appears to have. I have e-mailed Rob regarding the dash configuration.
This car is simmilar colour to what Tennrocca is considering.

I dont think there are too many people you havent met yet Bernie.
With the amount of driveing you do you could have travelled around Australia by now.

Well it looks like I did my doe. . Apparently Autostyling bodies do have raised indicator mounts, and no integral dashboard. They also don't have internal door sills and are 92" wheelbase.
Sorry Dave I'm at a loss
Does anyone know of a kit supplied with an integral dashboard?

Talking to my local Windscreen obrien guy today
and he says he has a listing for Cobra's.
Hopefully he can get one in to try on Beryl.
The 5ltr ford motor i have is automatic.
I got hold of a 4 speed single rail but the starter is
on the other side of the bell housing. Has anyone else
come across this before?

Are you trying to use the bellhousing from the auto with the single rail? Won't fit. You should be able to buy a decent T5 for not much money, then you have the benefit of an overdriven gear.
The windscreen itself will always be easy to find - the main cost is the chromed brass mounting hardware. I've seen guys talk about prices from $1000 to $1600. It's hard to see the value in them. You could always go with a racing screen like OZVENOM. I'm not sure what he's doing with his left hand. It almost looks like he's saying "It's this big...." Last time someone mentioned the topic around a table with a few beers flowing, Scott threatened to flop it out onto the table and scratch a mark in the table for all to try to outdo.
Scary stuff - nobody took him up on it.

Maybe he was about to do a Leighton Hewit - COME ONNNN!!
I am using the single rail bell housing not the auto.
I think i will just get T5 conversion kit from the wreckers.
I got a whole EB 92 v8 Falcon in the back yard ready to donate
it's organs to the Cobra.
