I should've also added that I'm not using trailing arms in my cobra because of the 10mm tube. Most trailing arms probably would be set up with some sort of rubber mounts to allow for some movement in order to stop the suspension from binding up as it's very difficult to mount the trailing correctly with the right geometry. This is the case with other RCM's that I've seen. The only way I think I could do it is to mount them from behind instead of trailing but this would require some mods to the chassis which I doubt the engineer would like. My engineer has no problem with my RCM not using trailing arms.

FYI

DRB 2000's use the single shock setup and from a road point of view - no dramas.

Pretty sure my coil overs are 450 lbs with adjustable billet shocks - one day to be replaced by some AVO's - Keep dreaming

Run the trailing arms forward. There should be plenty of suitably solid points to mount them in the back bumper area of the chassis. Your only problem then might be fuel tank clearance. However the fuel tank can be more easily modified for clearance than your arse.

Les, from the look of that tubular arm setup there is still provision for attaching trailing arms.

One thing I like about the braced setup or the fabricated tubular arm is that it gives some suitable attachment point for a rear sway bar.

Mike...that thingy you think is for a trailing arm is for the roll bar heim joint ( I think)....it is just shown at the wrong angle.

The swing arms using a trailing arm have the mounting closer to the hub end. ( I think)

There I was thinking that some engineering type who has the ability to mess with shifters on tremecs, and who is the proud owner of huge milling machines would invent some billet swing arms as a means of receiving income to build his cobra.

I'll get round to inventing them once I've got through my current side pipe work load.

Next few bits of inventing will be as follows:
Beefed up Tremec T56 gearbox. Going by what I've read I should be able to up the rating from 450 ft/lb to 650 ft/lb. The weak link seems to be the 3-4 shift at the moment.

Chrome molly tubular XR8 rear upper and lower arms. These things are cast steel a the moment and horrendously heavy.

Practice welding chrome moly on Jag tubular rear ends.

Copies of that tubular arm I posted would be just dandy.
