Unhappy LS1 trouble

Hi All ,
I just got my exhaust done (will post pics soon) but the problem i am having with the motor is that the Left Hand Sidepipe after about 1-2 minutes will be glowing red . The motor has a consistant miss have you guys got ant ideas for me .
All the plugs are new and they all fire as i have tested every one on there respective leads . I pulled the fuel rail of and turned it upside down then reconnected the injector plugs and turned the key and all the injectors are squirting . Fuel pressure is set to 55 psi or 380 killopascals .I also swapped oxygen sensors to no avail

Any Help would be much appreciated.

Paul

My guess is the rubber gasket seal on the intake manifold is not sealing correctly or the map sensor seal is leaking.

Glowing exhaust is normally a lean condition, are there any trouble codes coming from ecu?

I added pic of exhaust to my gallery .

Well i done compression test and the left bank was all over the place ranging from 125 to 175 and funnaly enough the right hand bank had 2 cylinders with 0 compression . The front 2 rocker arms had spat the bearings so i will be pulling it down i guess .

Paul,

Thats not good to see. The LSI is a pretty tough motor so it looks like whoever owned it before gave it a hard time.

You will probably find that a rebuild is pretty expensive and a new motor from Eagle may be more economical.

Its probably better you found out now rather than after the painting and trimming was complete.

Hope it all works out OK.

Paul, thats good news. You are lucky you started the motor before you finished the Cobra.

Hi All
Just letting you know that i got a call from the wreckers today and they have fixed my motor and it has cost them nearly 3g to fix the damage and he is chargeing me $150 to cover some of his labour costs . I must say that if anyone is looking for a motor and are concerned about warranties etc then go to All Panels and Parts and they will definetly look after you .

Regards
Paul

Paul,

Glad to see that worked out OK for you. Nice to know there are decent suppliers in the motor trade.

Will you be ready for the Nationals?

Phil

Bernie,

Probaly wasn't all that much wrong. Labour seems to be the killer these days.

Hows your rebuild going?

not surprised at $3000

If you got all the parts required to build a 302 from ford it would cost $9000 just for parts. The newer the motor the less after market options.

Sounds like your supplier was very good
