Just brought a cobra and need friends
Howdy All
My name is Ben and I just brougt a de type cobra fully built in brisbane.... it has a 302 cleveland engine and is blue with the white racing stripes.
I am getting a bit of work done to it so any advice or tips you can offer would be great.
I would love to know about any cruises that you guys have.
If you guys are looking for a place to chill in brisbane I do own a pool hall and internet cafe in Mt Gravatt called Chillan.
Is it the 1st sunday of every month that the club meets at sanctuary cove... what are the rest of the details about the meet and time and etc.....

Hi Ben,
1st Sunday of each month 7 to 7.30 at Sanctuary Cove followed usually by a run.
Best time of year for jumping into the Cobra!!!
What plans have you got for it?????????
Any pics?
Pretty sure I recognise the car.
One word of advise..............
Whatch the Cobra Pit - It can take mountains of dosh before you're aware that it has.
Enjoy what it is and not what you wish it would be - that way everthing keeps in perspective.

Now Pete, is that an admission that QLD is NOT perfect all year round?
Hi and welcome Ben. A De-Type Cobra was just completed here in CBR last year and there very happy with it, particularly the interior room as Pete is about 6' 11" and built like an OX.

David,
You are right. QLD is not ideal all year round. January 4th is usually a shocking day, but the other 364 days are pretty ideal!!!
Oh and when you get hammered by a heap of cockroaches - thats not an ideal day too!!

The weather in this great state ain't great! I live in in the wettest part of Australia (like 6 meters of rain a year) and I wonder to myself why I bought a Cobra? Then I realise my car has even hit the road yet and I am complaining how it is always raining. When mine finally gets up and going I don't care if it is flooding I am going driving.

New members, great. Welcome.
If you want to make new friends, just park your Cobra on the side of the road and stand next to it and wait. People will come from nowhere to look at it and ask questions.

Dear Fellas, will put some photos up of my beast soon and Cameron I have a Hard Top but no bilge pump, lols. And to Mr Bryan Wilson your car looks great and reminds of the Black Cobra in Australia with the plate BAD 351! Do you know the car I am talking about, I think I saw it on the Australian Cobra Car Club inn 1 of their Magazines.
Ps> Does anyone know/is there any Cobra owners in FNQ?

Welcome to the funny farm fellas.
PCC gave you details of the club brekky each month. Try and make a visit and don't be shy.
Introduce yaselves around ..look out for me...I'm the good lookin one. Pete? you can't miss him ...he talks funny. and that Cameron fella doesn't have a suntan, drives around in the shade all the time. Can't miss him either.
Blair, 6 mtrs a year?..that sounds like Tully. If you can't see the mountain..it's raining...if you can see it..it's gonna rain.
That Sean Hyland sure knows how to make those 4.6's perform. Pity MG went bad because he had the contract to supply their engines. Once MG started supplying Aussieland then that engine would have been compliant here, complete with all the gofast bits.
For those who don't know who sean is..have a look here and have a look at the SHM crate engines off the top menu. http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/
Ben, make a point to get to brekky and you'll be cruisin with so many cobs and mates ya head will spin.
Welcome again fellas

Hi there Blair, I lived in the place that Les is talking about (I told him about the mountain and weather predicting).
I am now in Alice Springs so I have gone from 1 extreem to the other (although it is pi$$ing down at the moment).
I did not locate any other owners in the FNQ but I did see a DRB in Townsville about 6-7 years ago (when I was researching which car to get) He was the local agent.
I arranged a meeting with him to check out the kits, went to his house and could see the car in the garage but no one home (turned me of the company, not very well managed).
As Bryan says, get some pics in your gallery for all to see.

Hey there Boxhead, I actually live in Innisfail, well Cowely really so Tully is right next door. I know why you moved it wasn't because of a better paying job or a HOT woman but the chance that you could drive your fav car more than twice a year.
And to Rebel1, I actually bought my 4.6 complete from Eagle Automotive as a stock 320 hp crate motor and 3550 for an amazing $9500 dollars brand spanking new. A great deal at the time and then I found SHM and my 'cheap' motor has suddenly and rapidly increased in value (well thats what I tell the GF). But after saying that SHM is not new to Australia and you can import all their parts through CAPA. Since the 2001 Mustang Cobra and Mg share the same/similar 4.6 many people actually import from SHM.
Actually fellas I might come down for the next Sanctuary Cove Sunday Breakfast. Is that the 3rd of July? I never seen more than 1 Cobra at a time so I might be a little light headed.
See you all soon
Blair

Hey there Blair, I nearly bought a house on the beachfront in Kurimine afew years ago.
My wife is born and bred Innisfail, her surname is Davis.
Her Dad owns and runs what is now called Innisfail driving school, used to be Tenni's driving school.
My wife is asking for your surname and approx age.
I have an Auntie living in Morsbey and Most of my Dads family are still in Innisfail, you may know of them, surname Rawnsley.
My mother inlaw and brother inlaw are leaving Innisfail Tomorrow (sunday) morning to drive out here.

Yep Blair...the 3rd July it is.
Sanctuary Cove, St Tropez ( I think it's called) cafe. Brekky about 7:30 till about 10:00 then maybe a cruise.
Usually about 10 to 20 cobras & a couple of GT40's.
You'd be like a kid in a lolly shop.
Cheers

Yes there is a bit of a pit...
Howdy All thanx for the good welcome..........
Yeah my cobra belonged to brendan LightFoot, He has done a good job on this one....
I have already done a bit of work to it....
New windscreen just a little taller
New sound system (now that was not cheap)
Full Alarm system that Includes gsm and satilite tracking and even talks to my phone.. (the dog fence)
I have a few really nice security gadets on it like pin coded push button start.
Roll bars are one the way
Had to put in a new battery new water pipes and a new distributor
But now it is running great..... I hope it stays that way for a while....
Ohh I will be customising the interior my self.... but that wont be for a few months.....
I look forward to meeting you all at sanctuary cove

Here's some info for the new chums..
Sunday 3rd July... Brekky at Sanctuary Cove. Followed by a 7th Annual Independence day Cruise to Haigh Park, Lake Moogerah.
( All american Vehicles welcome)
Leaves 9:30am from Viking Drive South, Wacol, (opposite end to the Volvo Factory)
Route is Ipswich motorway, Cunningham Hwy, thru Aratula.
( If you get a chance buy a works burger from the snack bar, next to the antiques shop at Aratula)
Looks like Brekky will be short and sweet.
Cheers
