Default Roll bar for the nationals HELP

Hi guys,

As you would all be aware by now there is a change in regs for the nats this year and we all need roll bars. My car dose not have one so I have a problem.
I want to put a single hoop behind the driver. My car is a 1988 DAX so there is not that much info on the best way to go about it.
Also can anyone give the the dimentions of a single hoop
ie tube od, bend radius, hight above body. over all width etc.

please help

JB

You could always call Don Pilling at Snake Bite Ph 0755290877...he would know roll bar sizing for most kits here in Aus and just might know and be able to supply something for your Dax.

I didn't know about mandatory roll bar requirements. God, most of the rollbars around are not exactly functional.

Went to a lot of trouble on the Harrison we built to have a better driver roll bar, increased the wall thickness and rear stay mounts through the boot to the chassis. But it's still a joke compared to what you would need to get CAMS approval.

Default I can help AC302

All you need is a couple of used alfoil rolls, paint them silver
and race tape them to your helmet

I should have been an engineer.......

Check with Don at Snake Bite but I'm sure it's 50mm tube, 300mm center to center of the uprights.

Length of uprights depends on the kit.

Don Pilling. 07 5529 0877

cheers

I got mine from Don Pilling and it is very nice work. I went with single bar also. He makes them to suit your kit but as yours is an older Dax he may not have design details etc. but he knows most cobras so he may have details. I am sure he would make one up for you based on your own design though, just need good mounting points to secure to chassis etc. Are you looking at a bar with the third leg? That's real fun to get the hole in your body right!!

AC302
I have a Dax of similar era, if you like I can take it down to Don and get a roll bar measured up. In fact I will probably get one made for myself too.

Just let me know

Regards

Cameron
